Raymond Buckland was a Wiccan high priest, close friend of Gerald Gardner, and founded the first Wiccan coven in the United States. He was also influential as a writer, with published works such as Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft and Buckland's Book of Saxon Witchcraft, the latter of which is the foundational text of Seax-Wica. All in all, a very cool guy.
