This hoax perpetuated by the Chinese is getting pretty serious.

Australia gets these sorts of heat waves every year.

It’s not proof of climate change (though I believe in it).

Every year, eh? The article says it's broken heat records set in 1939.

Melbourne set its all-time heat record about 2 years ago.

This sort of heat is normal for the Australian interior.

I feel the duration of hot weather in the major cities is getting longer, though.

No. It is not normal. It is record breaking.

Read up on Australian heat waves over the past ten years.

I follow the weather. It’s sort of a “special interest.”

Every year, the heat from the interior seeps into coastal areas. It lasts like 1-3 days. The the sea breeze takes over again. The inland suburbs get it worse. It can be 20 Celsius on the coast. Over 40 inland. This happens every Australian summer.

Talk to some Australians, if you don’t believe me.

Did you read the article? :? The temperature record that was just broken has been standing since 1939.

I did read the article, of course.

Those records were at a few sites. Low to mid 40s Celsius occurs every year in most parts of Australia—inland and coastal.

Why don’t you talk to some Australian members? You don’t sound like you believe me. I follow the weather around the world, and I’ve been doing this for many years.

I do believe in climate change. I don’t believe this proves climate change.

In 1936, all-time heat records (for states!) were recorded in many northern Midwest states in the US. Past 50 Celsius at times. And the Prairie Provinces in Canada, too. They still stand today.

That means there have been heatwave temperatures like this going back at least 80 years. This sort of thing just isn't convincing evidence of imminent global apocalypse.

It’s been happening this way for millennia.

The difference could be that the coastal heat waves are lasting longer.

I think the notion of climate change and the notion of the world coming to an end in short order should be separated.

It isn't a matter that you and I and many others deny climate change is taking place.

It's a matter of being skeptical that a severe global climate catastrophe is taking place which will soon result in an apocalypse.

How is this a Chinese hoax?

Extreme heat does kill animals. When there are heat waves in the U.S., thousands of chickens die. What is in dispute?

I believe what he's referring to is Donald Trump's statement that global warming is a "Chinese hoax."

Perhaps Trump meant the end of the world currently taking place is a hoax.

Correct. I was mocking idiots’ belief that climate change is a hoax perpetuated by the Chinese in order to gain manufacturing business.

It’s still ridiculous that some people here think our fossil fuel burning & human activity aren’t rapidly changing things. We can see and measure the changes with relative ease now. We know that the air is filling up with GHG’s and the sea with plastic, and that it’s impacting weather, climate, and natural animal habitats - including ours.

Nah, you're just crazy paranoid and overly emotional and not viewing this logically. You see, measurable things like the bleaching of the Great Barrier Reef is just a hallucination created by your emotional liberal mind. Really there's nothing at all to be concerned about, just go about your mindless consuming like a good little capitalist cog.
