I just found out that my great aunt who was always so kind to me was killed in a car accident today. I suppose it was quick. Her daughter-in-law is in the hospital. I don't know the details except they hit a tree at a high speed on a road not far from my family's home.

Car accidents are a major OCD trigger for me. I don't know how to respond. I'm stunned. My feelings and anxiety seem to be rushing in all these different directions mixed with feelings of empty nothing. It feels like a storm that whips up and then calms and it's disorienting.

I don't know what to do or how to think. It's not clear.

At least you're right in that it was probably quick. You're probably going to feel the way you described for a while. Just don't let your feelings cause you to do anything destructive. See a psychologist if necessary. At least you got to know such a wonderful person while she was alive, right? There's nothing you can do about it but let your feelings pass (again, possibly with help. I don't know what it's like to be OCD) and move on with your life. You won't have your great aunt anymore, but more good things and people will come. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank you both. I really appreciate the advice. It's weird when something happens. You suddenly don't know what to do.

You have my condolences. Sorry about your great aunt.

Yea, I have that feeling in the back of my head about accidents when I get behind the wheel or on the saddle.

Kala bozoo!

Just talking here yesterday about deaths sudden versud expected. Most we have seen coming, but one came out of nowhere halfway through what would have been a good day. Had to go home - and I am an an emotion filterer [NOT suppressor, I just slow them down].

It takes a while to process. Worst when it is sudden and a mahatma. Pole sana, say the Swahili, mungu amweke pema peponi.

I'm very sorry about your loss. What I've been through this summer, is nothing compared to what you're going through, right now.

Hugs :O)

Thank you all. I learned that they think the seat belt broke her neck.

Her daughter in law has many broken and crushed bones but her organs are ok. She will need medical care for a long time to recover. She has two sons who are 11 and her husband is having a very difficult time of it.
