Sometimes you are expected to use your initiative, other times when you use your initiative and make a decision they don't like then you should have asked first.

And then people tell me not to be a perfectionist.

But then when you're not perfect people get annoyed at you.

All I'm actually doing here is trying to get a stranded colleague home. Weather is bad in the UK right now. Hopefully flights will go as planned tomorrow.

It's so stressful trying to work out what other people want.

And travel companies do not allow for mistakes. You dare to be human and mix something up, that'll cost you money to fix!

My work does that
Say they trust me and to use initiative and make decisions then when I do they like why’d you do that. They also constantly change policy without telling me then get upset at me for following their previous policy.

Hope it works out and you feel better

Yep...I know what you mean.

i find that this sort of "damn-if-you-do, damn-if-you-don't" is sometimes used as a "power ploy" by people.

Yes, it gets irritating.

Makes me want to howl like a wolf!

Well I've actually spoken to the person now and they are fine with my decisions today.

It's just stressful. They are stuck and stressed and I just want to help.

The weather here is mad!

I know what you mean about policy changes Sly. It helps when you are informed. Me and my colleague only found out we were doing something wrong recently after a few months of thinking we were doing it the right way.

I managed not to howl.

I don't think it's as bad as it was in 1962-1963 in the UK. But it's getting close.....

How is everything coming along as far as your heat and supplies are concerned?

For us, this sort of weather is routine---but for you folks, it's an anomaly.

My apartment is really warm. I stocked up when I heard the beast from the east was on the way. Ran out of chai tea though. Gutted.

Seems you handled the situation well despite how you felt so thumbs up for that.

They do say "Hell is other people." Heh.

Do you get that feeling that you're lonely all the time, but can't cope with any social contact AT ALL? That's how I feel most of the time. It's like I'm allergic to people. I need them to survive but I can't "metabolize" them and they just end up making me sick. Sorry, I didn't intend to hijack this thread, but all I'm trying to say is I can relate. :(

Yes I relate.

It's so hard to find someone to be comfortable with.

It's not like this yet.

But today we got the wind so this one from 1963 is a good match.
