My family has a lot of secrets. My grandmother will not say any of them. She likes to stick her head in the sand. Plus we have our share of depression that runs rampant and also a few on the spectrum, I'm sure.

My niece loves Spider Man and I think that's cute.

My brother thinks he's probably the only conservative atheist on his college campus.

I do wonder what Nigerian Scotch eggs are like.

He hasn't been to Europe, then. Lots of conservative atheists here. I'm a conservative (but also liberal and mild libertarian) atheist.

My grandfather on my dad's side was very likely an old-school Italian mobster. He knew and grew up with the Spilotro brothers, who were well-known gangsters from Chicago. Anthony Spilotro was the inspiration behind Joe Pesci's character, Nicky Santoro, in the movie Casino. My grandfather spent 7 years in prison back in the 70s, and now lives retired in Las Vegas with my grandmother, my grandfather's sister (my great aunt), two uncles and 3 cousins.

I'm the only one in the family who likes the colour, green.

Last week my sister frantically called me to come and remove a "dead mouse" from her laundry. It turned out to be a small pile of lint.

My oldest aunt has a mental illness. Munchhausen syndrome and possibly Bipolar disorder. Never been diagnosed because her black and white thinking is too extreme so she has damaged her relationships with people because of it. She is always right and never in the wrong so she never takes responsibility for herself when she has her episodes at people. She has no treatment for her conditions because she doesn't think she has a problem except for her fake illnesses then she is magically better because she "cured" herself from them. My mom won't even talk to her so she ignores her phone calls because she doesn't want any drama with her. She calls her while she is working.

My grandfather almost died in the War once during WWII. If it weren't for bad accuracy one of the enemies had, the bullet would have hit him in the head instead of going by him and I wouldn't have exist because my dad would have never even existed.

I've got one of those medals somewhere! A Russian one _ I think all the Communist countries did that at some stage. I bought a load of Russian medals off a market stall (for theatre costumes - our company was doing Chess), and it was only later on I worked out what the writing meant.

My maternal grandfather was born in July and my maternal grandmother died in July.
My senior niece and her husband were both born on the 25th of the month (different months and years) and their daughters were born on the 14th of the month (different months and years).
My maternal grandfather's cousin played for West Bromwich Albion FC.
My brother lives with a woman 16 years his senior.

One time at New Year's, my brother made a resolution to never use acronyms. He kept that resolution for quite a while, but I wonder if that included saying Compact Disk instead of CD, or Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus instead of scuba, or if it was only internet acronyms he avoided, which he unsurprisingly found stupid and annoying.

My cousin is famous and is also a self-absorbed jerk. People always think it's "cool" that we're cousins, so I never have the heart to tell them that he's an a**.

He also somehow managed to have piece of our family memorabilia placed on another planet, which sounds like something you would make up, but is true. Another thing I just keep to myself.

My uncle is an idiot because he doesn't seem to "get it" whenever he talks to my mom about buying a new car.
