So do I. Of course, I grew up during the 80's, so nostalgia. I so remember the neon-splashed, outrageous fashions and one-hit-wonders and Boy George and Cindi Lauper and Micheal Jackson's Thriller. Good times.

I also love 80s music. Thomas Dolby in particular.

Like many, I share the same opinion that the 1980s was the decade of one-hit wonders.

Meh. The Ramones, and that's about it. Maybe some Scorpions.

Kraftwerk was one of the first synth bands and they had the 'flat effect' later synth artists copied this behavior?

Gary human blames it on make-up

Quote:
. Personality and style Edit
Around this time, Numan also developed his style. According to Numan, this was an unintentional result of acne; before an appearance on Top of the Pops, he had "spots everywhere, so they slapped about half an inch of white makeup on me before I'd even walked in the door. And my eyes were like pissholes in the snow, so they put black on there. My so-called image fell into place an hour before going on the show".[12] His "wooden" stage presence was, in his words, a result of extreme self-consciousness and lack of "showmanship" and often referred to as being "like an android".[12] During this period, Numan generated an army of fans calling themselves "Numanoids", providing him with a fanbase which maintained their support through the latter half of the 1980s, when his fortunes began to fall precipitously.[12][13]

He later said that he, "Got really hung up with this whole thing of not feeling, being cold about everything, not letting emotions get to you, or presenting a front of not feeling".[12]

Yeah it keeps me sane, without it, I probably won't have the same thought process or motivation to do stuff while listening to it, and depeche mode and A-ha is among my favourites, but there are a few artists that I only know 1 or 2 songs from so it's difficult to base my favouritism on just one song rather than several from one artist.

Just to point out, Culture Club had at least six hits that people still remember & recognize immediately:
"Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?"
"Time (Clock of the Heart)"
"I'll Tumble 4 Ya"
"Church of the Poison Mind"
"Karma Chameleon"
"Miss Me Blind"
And then...Boy George went solo in 1988 resulting in...well...this:

(although to be fair, in '92 he also did the theme song to The Crying Game)
