The words wat or wot don't offend me when they are used on purpose by someone who normally speaks with proper grammar. I use the word wat, wut, and lolwut a lot on the internet. It's just an internet nerd thing.

No, all words at one time drew pretentious sneers. I like to see people have fun with the language.

That one annoys me, actually. So do shortenings of the word 'probably'.

I taught that to one to my former supervisor; we tex a lot. I also taught him kewl & some people on forums I've been to picked up on it as well. You can blame me if you want but you must blame South Park as well because i learned kewl from that

I disagree. I think the language is going through the much-needed process of refinery. What's the point in a silent H anyway?

agreed, it's a natural evolution.

and i think it's fun to use new words. i work a government job that requires a great deal of formality in written communication, so it's fun to mess around with language in my off time. my 16-year-old daughter is not impressed by this tendency. also, my phone can only send 140 characters per text, so any unnecessary letters need to be dropped.

i love that abbreviated and slang speech isn't that common on these forums though. instead of descending to something that is easy, we maintain proper english for the most part (says the person who refuses to capitalize. oh, never mind).
