However, saying that, I too can't say I approve of all these people who self-diagnose, at least those who do nothing with their conclusions like getting a professional DX ASAP. It's becoming far too fashionable in some circles to claim having AS. For example, the minute I was diagnosed a little over 2 years ago, my very obviously NT (and slightly insane) mother concluded she had to have AS too. She was determined to "join the club" as it were. I don't think those kinds of self-DX are helpful to us. Just my 2 cents.
Well it really does not matter much. What other people think they have has little effect on my life and I could care less about some person out there that may have wrongly dx themselves or who may
have and offical AS DX. Dx is useless because their is no treatment.
Maybe if someone lives in a socialist brotherhood they may get benfits but the average adult in the US has no reason to get an DX.
Sorry to hear that, can you not get SSI (is that the correct term?)?
It's not so bad here, you can qualify for a lot of assistance from social security and get things like CBT from psychologists. It's definately been beneficial for me to get the diagnosis.
I guess the downside of that is that taxes are much higher in Europe.
