Hello. Since the "Who seems most British" post reminded me that perhaps I could ask for help from fellow AS peeps here I am asking for your help. I'm going to be in Liverpool next weekend for 6 hours from 12:30 am to 6:30 am on Sunday morning (right after it transitions from Saturday night to the wee hours of Sunday morning) and need to know if there are places open at those hours (cafes, restaurants, heck, even pubs, if it has to be) that I could be at until the bus leaves in the morning. I'd rather not stay at the hostel for 6 hours and pay for a night's stay.

Also, if anyone knows whether it is safe to stay at the train station or bus terminal those hours please let me know. Cheers for your help! :D

Would you like to go to London with me, and ride the Heritage Routemasters?

Okay...seriously. You could go to your local library and sign out some travel books on Liverpool. Just try to get the most comprehensive ones, because those are the ones that cover everything. The Lonely Planet books are really good. :)

Thank you for your input everyone and the friendly invites. Hope to visit all your locations sometime, too. Unfortunately, being in the States it's more difficult to get comprehensive information about Liverpool between midnight and 6 AM. I have been searching the Net and asking questions all over the place, but the only concrete answer I've gotten is a Chinese restaurant that's open until 3:30 AM and though that is good, it still doesn't cover the extra 3 hours. If anyone knows of any other resources or options, please do let me know. Thank you again. :)

Hi Frannie,
I've not been to Liverpool in the evening for a long time, it would probably be OK and I don't want to worry you but I think I'd book a room somewhere nearby if I was travelling alone or with just a couple of other people. It might have the usual city problems of drunks etc especially at weekends. It would be different if there are going to be a gang of you. I think I'd give the tourist office a ring and ask their advice. It would be helpful to ring the railway station too and ask their advice, they will know what the local area is like at night. They have bars and cafes there but I don't know if they're open all night.

Here's the number for the tourist info. centre and they'll be able to help you find a place to stay that's near the station if that's what you decide to do.

I should imagine that there are many clubs open til dawn.
I wouldnt advise hanging around elsewhere, especially saturday night.
I suggest finding a Travel Lodge or something.

I really appreciate all your help, Starr, TechnoMonk, Kosmonaut. I am travelling alone as a woman and trying to save money (hence not wanting to stay at the hotels or hostels even for less than 6 hours). I hope Andy1976Uk sees this and might know of a place that would be open for those hours from past midnight to 6:00 am. I might just have to call the tourist information line and see what they have to say. If anyone else knows of any places that are open please do kindly help with information. Cheers again! :)
