I think I read that they are going to pay Amazon a fee to sell their merchandise via Amazon instead of stores, because Amazon is now too big to compete with. Skimmed that article a while ago so not totally sure it was Sears, though that sounds familiar.

Yes. It's a survival choice. Sears is not the only one to make that choice.

I'm surprised they still have Sears in Canada. They closed down the one my parents went to years ago. That's in the US.

Sears should have been out of business 10 years ago. They kept sending their mail order catalogue for ages, completely oblivious that people shopped online and not through outdated mail order catalogues lol.

Yet more jobs vanishing.

Amazon is setting up a base in Australia now, and that will impact on jobs in Australia, as many small retailers will be unable to compete with them.

My mother told me not all of them were closing. I still remember when as a kid I'd be almost as excited to get the Christmas catalogue as I was on Christmas day. My mom had her hands full trying not to let me ask Santa for one of every toy out of the catalogue, and I'd change my mind about a hundred times over what I could get. :)

But everyone else is ordering online now. I guess eventually malls and stores will close too, and that will suuuuuck, because where I live there's practically nothing else to do most of the time. :(
