If I bath or shower, I generally like to get in, wash and get out as quickly as possible to move onto other things.

Do you bathe for practicaility, or do you like to lounge in the bath for hours?

For me, it's a combination of the two.

It depends for me. Oftentimes I just want to get it over with (I have the habit of leaving them until it's an hour or so before midnight, which isn't really ideal), but I do like the feel of the water. If I'm particularly upset, the shower is calming to me; I like the feel of the water (especially when the house is freezing in the winter; heat is good).

I don't take hours (or even an hour :P), but my showers do tend to be longer, if only because... I'm slow. I most things slowly.

I have been known to spend a very long time in a shower or bath heating my body up helps with the fatigue a bit.

In the morning I often want to get on with other things, so it is a sort of inconvenience.

I love soaking in a hot tub...add lots of bubbles, light a couple of candles, get a glass of wine and some chocolate....pure heaven.

Of course with an 8 yr old I can only manage this on the holidays when he's with his dad...anything more than 15 minutes and he's beating on the door..."MOM! MOM! Did you fall asleep in there?"

I shower once a week whether I need it or not, like a true Viking. No matter what I do though, I always seem to take 45 minutes.

I used to enjoy showering and getting all the crud off me, and feeling the warmth of the water, and being able to sing quietly without anyone hearing! Now I just try to get in and out as soon as possible, because I don't really like staying in the shared YMCA bathroom, where people come in often, because I think they'll be talking behind my back speculating about why I spend so long in the shower. Even though there are two showers and usually there's only one person showering at a time anyway.

I find taking my daily bath very relaxing, especially when I've got the lights off.

I usually take my regular showers when I'm getting ready to go somewhere, in which case they're quick. During the colder times of the year, I might take a shower just to make myself feel good, in which case it will be for as long as I want. When I first started taking showers instead of baths, I had a really difficult time taking quick ones. The feel of the hot water was apparently just too nice for me to want to leave it. Other people would always complain about me taking too long in the shower, but I simply didn't know how to do it any other way.

I shower for the practicality, but I bathe to ralax. A little bubblebath with a sweet scent and I'll stay in for hours. I've been known to dose off completely and wake up a prune!

I can't stand to go more than a day or two without a shower, especially because it's so humid I feel sticky and gross.

Same here, I have one of those shower massage thingies by Water-Pik. After loading and lifting
all day there is nothing like the "one hour vacation" in the shower stall.

In all seriousness: every time I step out of the shower I wonder: "How did they do without this 100 years ago?"

"How did they do without this 100 years ago?" Rather poorly, life expectancy was about half of what it is today.
Increased standard of hygiene and better diet and medicine have added much to our lives in both quantity and quality.

Yeah, but they were dying from flu and toothaches and such back then. I mean more about going forth and being productive knowing you've still got three weeks 'til your monthly lukewarm bath, 8O
