i struggle with reading,writing,spelling and confusing left and right.
i cant memorize what i read.
can brain damage cause dyslexia?
i think it can happen both ways.
i think it can be genetic and happen to you.

anyone else struggle with this?

I'm dyslexic & dyslexia is something your born with. Brain damage can cause some dyslexic symptoms but it is NOT dyslexia.
