try:

going to the bottom of the page, where it says "sort by: (post time) (ascending)", under "ascending" (the default setting, and what i assume you have), change it to '"descending". you'll see all the new posts, in backwards order of course.

you won't be able to see the oldest posts in that setting but you can change it back.

unfortunately both ways, all the middle posts have vanished it seems.

Thanks, Kip! That worked perfectly.

Norwegian and Swedish are closely related, but some words are different:

Norwegian: Jeg er rolig (I am calm)
Swedish: Jag är rolig (I am funny)

Swedish: Glass (English: ice cream, Norwegian: iskrem)
Swedish: Glas (glass in English and Norwegian bokmål, glas in Norwegian nynorsk)

Norwegian: rar (weird/strange)
Swedish: rar (cute, fun)

Well, red also means ‘net’ in Spanish

Informal abbreviations: English KK (’kay, ’kay) and Spanish KK (caca, ‘poop’).

i never got why the english speakers doubled the k. where did that come from, "okay okay"? i've rarely heard that.

perhaps KK is supposed to imply that? :oops: i'm clueless.

possibly unrelated but a hebrew equivalent of English "lol" would be a bunch of heths drawn out (like 3 or more)

One of my father's favourite expressions was Okay Okay Okay!

In Quantum Leap Al used "kaka" or "caca" (only heard it, so don't know the spelling) to mean crazy.

I'll just round a few Tagalog words here:

English: Salvage (To Save/Rescue OR Uncivilized)
Tagalog(Or rather, Fil. Eng.): Salvage (To Assassinate)

Spanish: Delicado (Delicate)
Tagalog: Delikado (Dangerous)
Spanish: Leche (Milk)
Tagalog: Leche (Either it's a cuss word, or a snack flan)
Spanish: Puto (Manw----, a cuss word otherwise)
Tagalog: Puto (A type of cake)
Spanish: Casa (House)
Tagalog: Kasa (Something to do with gun triggers)
Spanish: Gata (Female Cat)
Tagalog: Gata (Coconut juice)

Portuguese: Mamon (Some cuss word)
Tagalog: Mamon (Some type of bread)

Yes, imagine a filipino telling a portuguese and a spanish speaker to "Eat puto mamon." Either it'll be ugly or hilarious.

Visaya: Anay (Child)
Tagalog: Anay (Pest)

Malay: Selamat Pagi (Good Morning)
Tagalog: Salamat Pagi (Thank you, Stingray)
Malay: Pembalut (Some feminine product)
Tagalog: Pambalot (Wrapper)

Then there's Twitter, announcing that Tagalog was the one of the most twitted language somewhere in Europe... But LOL (Laugh out loud) is not equals to Ulol (which not an acronym, and it means crazy/stupid) or Lolo (Grandfather). And twitted 'laughs' and other more are mistaken for reduplication affixes.

Tøs/tös means two completely different things in Norwegian and Swedish. :mrgreen:

some japalino drink, apparently translates to 'i can, i can' in croatian...if someone can confirm this for me.

i guess i like the way english words are 'borrowed into' hebrew: 'technology" - טכנולוגיה, teknologiya. "television" - טלוויזיה, televiziya. perhaps they have other words for the same.

kind of reminds me of the way those words are transliterated into the slavic languages, "televizija." "televiziya".

I think Arabic has this too, the "iya" endings.
