Oh, I see now, Elsa. Thanks for that link. I didn't realize that 'skä' makes the H+W sound like in 'själv' and 'sjö'. Thanks so much!

Skär- is also reference to coast ( Skärgård) whereas kärr- is refernce to a type of wetland.
