On Saturday the 9th at around 6 am I had really bad cramping, nausea and some dark bleeding. I also had chills and could barely walk. I assumed it was my normal period since I always get quite bad cramps, but it went on for a few hours and I later had bad muscle spasms in my pelvic area and felt solid matter come out. I passed a bunch of unusual pinkish tissue that didn't look like average blood clots which was as big as a large grape. An hour after that I passed more tissue that was shaped like an embryo the size of a bean and I took a picture to show the doctor. I ran to the walk in clinic on Sunday and showed the doctor, he said it looked like a miscarriage and had me take a urine test. Came back negative, gave me requisitions for quantitative hCG blood test and ultrasound. My blood test results from yesterday showed an hCG level of <1 which means not pregnant. I'm waiting to get an ultrasound this Thursday I don't know if anything is going to show up.

I'm so confused cuz both tests were negative but what came out was not a blood clot and I have no idea what else it could be. To clarify, I never knew I was pregnant and didn't take a test before this happened. I started nuvaring last month and my bf and I always use condoms so I was shocked to see what came out of me. I had cramping, nausea, bloating, swollen breasts before but was told that those were symptoms of bc. I took nuvaring out last Wednesday then the bleeding started Saturday. Is it even possible for the hormone to leave your body that fast that the tests come back negative 1-2 days later?

I'm really depressed about this. I'm still in school, my bf and I are nowhere ready to have a baby nor do we have the financial means but I'm really hurting inside that this could've possibly happened. I never imagined that my first pregnancy could've possibly failed and happened when I'm in college too. Or that both bc methods failed. Is there any other women who have had a m/c that had similar symptoms? Or didn't know they were pregnant until they miscarried the embryo later? Is it normal to be sad about this in my situation?

I didn't include pics cuz I know some get triggered and/or grossed out, plus I don't want to get banned but definitely resembles an embryo more than anything else. Maybe link with a trigger warning so that way ppl can choose to click on it or not??

From https://www.verywell.com/falling-hcg-le ... ge-2371283 :

Quote:
Your doctor is the best person to tell you what your hCG levels mean, because normal hCG levels vary significantly from person to person, and single hCG levels (even single low hCG levels) do not give much information on how a pregnancy is progressing.
(...)
In general, however, if the hCG levels are dropping in the first trimester, this probably is a sign of impending miscarriage.

So if you have already miscarriaged, chances are your hCG is low.
The same with urine test, you are no more pregnant after the miscarriage and your hormones mirror it.
I don't know what the doc was looking for in ultrasound, either. Maybe some anomalies that caused all the situation.

I'm not a specialist to see how nuvaring affected you but I guess it could be that.

If the embryo was a size of a bean, it should be about 7 weeks (counted from estimated last period, so about 5 weeks after conceiving), which means it was already there when you put the nuvaring in. Well, condoms are known to sometimes fail.

My mother had two miscarriages before her first successful pregnancy and she was severily depressed after that - well, she did want children but the hormones gave their part to it, too. It is relatively common for first pregnancies to end up with miscarriage.
Sorry that you had to go through it  Hugs and... well, allow yourself some mourning if you feel like that. It is totally in place. Hugs again!

I had something similar once (huge pink clots mixed with dark blood) and it definitely wasn't a miscarriage, unless I am anemophilous. I didn't do anything sex related back then.
The possible cause was yeast infection.

Your grape thing would could also be a a polyp (https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-con ... c-20378709) that got removed together with the tissue. I don't know if it is possible but gynecologist told my mom something similar when he discovered something on her "stomach photo"(whatever it is called). "Wait till your period and come back 10 days later, there is a chance the ball will disappear by itself on next photo". It didn't disappear but if gynecologist says so and decides to wait and see there is a chance some do.
Oh. And apparently the polyp required just a small pull to disconnect by doctor, according to what my mom said. The whole operation lasted 15 seconds and the thing looked like a grape.
