My interest is architecture, and as such, I'll spend many hours perusing floor plans (in books or often in those apartment-hunting guides), measuring rooms and features and translating them to graph paper, or (most often), building in the Sims (I've not decided if switching to that from drawing is a good or bad thing). I'm apt to do this for all of the day and night, of course.

Whether or not I remember to eat or sleep . . . and even if I'm not ready to stop . . . I'll find myself feeling physically ill (dry-mouthed, slightly nauseated, tense or shaking, etc.) Usually I come out of it far twitchier and spastic as well.

I'm wondering if this is some sort of overstimulation? Does anyone else experience this, and if so, how do you cope with it?

I think my lowest point is when I can't find any more information to absorb or study, so I get frantic trying to find more.
I also feel ill after staying awake for hours and hours, and not eating because of how focused I am. I remember when I was around 14 I got into game programming. One day my Mother and the family left for three days to visit family and I stayed awake the whole time, without eating, just studying programming. I only stopped to attend church on Sunday. When they came home, Mother asked how I was. I said "Fine" and went upstairs for a long needed nap.

Oh yeah, after too long in my special interests (one of which is historic architecture) I'll feel sick in the same ways. It's hard to pull myself out of obsessing, but to feel better, I force myself to quit for a while - that usually helps. Problem is I usually obsess about something else.

Yes, but it's purely physical. Sleep deprivation, dehydration, eyestrain, and sore muscles. Also, minor repetitive motion injuries.

Small price to pay for the sheer joy of it.

I feel sick after doing anything or concentrating on anything for way too long, and anything I do for way too long would have to be an interest.

I've gotten quite dizzy after playing a game for 12 to 16 hours without eating. :?

I think I have gotten hypoglycemic after spending too long hyperfocused on something not bothering to take a break and get something to eat.
