I am doing a project about manga at college at the moment and I am researching into why people with AS tend to be completely obsessed with Manga. In my case I know why I like it, but I want to see why other people like it. Basically, I need to know which Manga you read (or anime), why you like it. I am particularly interested in the emoticons of Manga and the fact that so many characters in Manga have AS traits.

Because it's funny and InuYasha is cute.

our local library has only recently added manga, but as of yet there is still not very much. I did find Buddah by Osamu Tezuka which I quite liked.

I don't really like manga.
Though I've never attempted reading it in depth.

I got confused at first, as you have to read it back to front.

Are people with AS completely obsessed with manga? I think you need to look into that first. I'm not saying they aren’t.

Maybe it is manly to do with the fantasy. Other AS might have other ways of addressing this.

I'm not into manga. But from a few films I've seen I guess I can identify with the alienation of some of the characters. Also I tend to see people in animated type way as well as how they are.

I mostly like anime and manga that feature GIANT FREAKIN' ROBOTS.

Why? Because GIANT FREAKIN' ROBOTS can destroy anything in their path. I find this to be an attractive ability.

Whoops, my language difficulty strikes again... I meant why are so many people with AS obsessed with manga, not implying that all people with AS like the stuff!

all i know is that when i was interested in manga, it lead me to become obsessed with Japan to the
point where i taught myself hiragana, katakana, and some kanji. why manga is proned to be
obsessed over, i have no idea. maybe because there is so much and it never really ends. you
can't ever finish reading mangas, even if you finish a series and it becomes fun that way. that
drew me to it, i know that.

Look up the Aesthetic Movement as everyone was obsessed with everything Japanese including Frank Lloyd Wright and Charles Rennie Macintosh.

I have no interest in manga.

I like it because I like anime but would rather read something than watch something (I prefer books to movies as well) because I can go at my own pace that way and make sure I understand everything. That's especially important in stories that involve personal relationships because sometimes I need to stop and figure out why someone said or did something.

I also like the art and the style of humor that seems unique to manga. My favorites are Cromartie High School, Azumanga Daioh, and Fruits Basket.
