Does any of you understand Satire Comedy it is really my favourite type of comedy I watch programmes like
Have I Got News For You
Dead Ringers
Blackadder

All those come under satire and I seem to laugh more at those then most other comedies or funny programme.

Satire Comedy is basically joking about society and the government alot about everyday life
Have I Got News For You
Is a comedy gameshow where they look at the news and politics and make fun at it

Dead Ringers
Is a spoof programme with alot of satire they do alot of impressions of World Leaders mainly Tony Blair and George W Bush

Blackadder
Is a satirical look at history each series looks at life in different centuries like example Blackadder Goes Forth is set in WW1 but looks at it in a satirical way

Most satirical comedies looks at things in a more realistic way then most things I tend to understand society more when watching them

I'm a fan of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. I get to watch the previous night's episodes during prime time :P.

You make a good list there.

I would have to add 'Bremner, Bird and Fortune' to that though, and 'That Was The Week That Was' - the latter in particular was groundbreaking stuff.

In Oz we have The Chaser Crew. Very popular group of lads, very satirical comedy. TV shows include:

The Chaser's War on Everything

Chaser Nonstop Nightly Network News (CNNNN)

[i may have got the N's in the wrong order, but you get the point]

Hehehe, possibly offensive to Yanks:

I love satire, for example Brasseye is possibly my favourite comedy ever. Of course, there's also Have I Got News For You, as the first post said. TBH I think British satire is way funnier than American satire, as you can probably tell by my choice of shows :P

Anyway Have I Got News For You was much more funnier when Angus Deayton was presenting it. It's not the same with the guest presenters

Satire and parody are often linked. Saturday Night Live, MAD Magazine, the SCTV television series, the Royal Canadian Air Farce...

Yeah, definitely, it's gone downhill recently. It's still entertaining to watch whenever you catch it on TV though.

SATIRE RULES! I enjoy it all, from the Chad Mitchell Trio to Monty Python to Mark Russell to the more subversive moments of "VeggieTales".

Current favorite: there's a programme (occasionally) on BBC2 called "Mock the Week" that I discovered on YouTube. After three or four clips I'm laughing so hard I'm crying!
