AsPartofMe said it all in the title: THEY ARE A FAD. In a year the NTs will have moved on to the next latest fad, leaving fidget spinners to those of us who actually need them.

Hopefully their (temporary) popularity will create a wider niche market, inspiring manufacturers to develop even better "fidget toys".

For me, the only reason I even bought a fidget spinner is as a cat toy as I've heard how much cats love to spin those. My kitten loves it, so it was a cheap cat toy.

I got my first finger spinner today. I won it on an ebay auction for 1$. It isn't bad. I like the sound it makes when I move my hand while it's spinning.

I love the sensation you get when you spin it really fast and move your hand - it's a bit like the old gyroscope toy - such fond memories of my gyroscope

At first I was like "WOW! Finally these fidgety kids are being accepted!" Then I realized the sad truth. This fad is going to do more harm than good. :?

I see them around alot but I don't see the purpose after seeing some children playing with it at the dentist.

Along with pacing back and forward, my poop emoji fidget spinner helps me to relax somewhat. I am prone to dropping it with alarming regularity, though.

The fad of fidget spinners reached here several weeks ago. I've been seeing it being sold to various stalls everywhere in the market and the malls.

If I ever want a fidget spinner for all it's supposed purpose, I would want the one that has a heavier like momentum and spins smoothly without or with less rough sensation. I could care less how it looked like or how it may sound when it spins.
The common type that is being sold around here is the three weights and it's plastic if not metallic. :| It's too lightweight, so still doesn't suit me.

^ You can order a metal one on ebay.

This spinner fad reminds me of the old yo-yo fad in the 50s.

Yo-Yo's were pretty popular in the 70s, too. So were hula hoops.
