It was suggested by my stepdaughter when the psych nurse did her preliminary visit on my moving to the area.

I'm thinking do I really need help as in being a genuine case or am I just a loser who should pull himself together.?
Does anyone else go through this?

No such thing really. That's probably years of learned guilt talking.

The question is: *can* you pull yourself together, or do you need help?

A while back in a supporting letter for disability benefits I was described as having 'Limited ability to live independently in the community"

Lose the guilt.

Accept help where appropriate. But keep a strong sense of self, maintain your judgement.

A lot of service providers want to make their clients into "victims". It makes their jobs a lot easier. Don't go there.
Don't accept "top down" inappropriate support. Demand to be included in the process. Make it a process of negotiation.

Isolation and dysfunctionality is loads better than inappropriate support

I had my social services assessment today. My stepdaughter was there . It went ok.
My problem is thinking I’m undeserving. My stepdaughter works for a care agency ,and says there are those who get a lot more than me and are in less need of it.
