Nah, that's more of a symptom then anything. The main reason, IMO, is th rise of "geek chic" and of geekiness becoming cool.

The thing about fashion is that it's forever
changing,whereas Asperger's is a life-long
condition.Anyone who is under the illusion
that they're jumping on a bandwagon should
be aware that it's a runaway and doesn't make
scheduled stops to drop people off.If you
know you've got AS then that's something
you have to accept.
As an example of how most people view
fashions,at work today someone was talking
about a women they knew who had 12
different pairs of spectacles,giving her a pair
to match with her various clothing ensembles.
