I derived the term "Zen punch" from a term called a "Zen hug" from Anne McCafferey's novel The Ship Who Searched. A Zen hug is defined as being "the hug we would give you, if we we were there, and you could, but we aren't, and we can't". A "Zen punch" is the same thing, but with a punch, obviously.
