In a last-ditch attempt to overturn earlier court decisions that the 43-year-old "UFO enthusiast" should be extradited, his lawyers accused prosecutors of ignoring the "disastrous consequences" of facing trial and a possible lengthy prison sentence in an American "supermax" prison.

Extradition + pre-trial solitary confinement + trial + Supermax prison=a disaster

The asperger's has nothing to do with it; go for the general human rights, "Hey guys, it's been five years and no charges!"

It's always been "Don't get arrested for anything ever because the cops are either abusive or are going to throw you in with a bunch of abusive criminals" in the USA. This is whether or not you have a disability of some kind.

Thanks to Tony Blair & David Blunkett, there is an extradition treaty, meaning that the prison condition and abusive police and violent criminals are not issues that can stop extradition but aspergers is a strong issue. Babar Ahmad http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babar_Ahmad, has been in prison almost 8 years, the British government, his has a much weaker case against extradition.

The government is still dithering, regarding the case of Gary McKinnon because of his diagnosis of aspergers syndrome after his arrest, See, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_McKinnon .

Talha Ahsan was diagnosed with AS after his arrest.
