Is it ok to cut bread out of your diet or do you need some to be healthy?

Do you think cavemen ate bread?

If you're worried about carbs you can get them from root vegetables.

Its the gluten in wheat bread that some folks are allergic to.

You can just eat corn bread, or taters or rice or whatever. To get the same carbs without the gluten.

I haven't eaten bread in a couple of years except for a slice of gluten free bread once in a while. There are no essential nutrients in bread which you can't easily get elsewhere

Most bread is fortified with synthetic Folic Acid and that can be very bad for people who can’t metabolize it. There are certain genetic variations which are fairly common to autistic people, which make Folic Acid harmful because we lack the amino acids to make it work. People like that need to avoid FA and take bioavailable methylfolate supplements instead.

That’s not true of all autistic people and you’d need to consult with your doctor but methylfolate is generally better for all people than Folic Acid.

I haven't eaten gluten bread for almost 15 years.

I'm still here. :D

I haven't eaten bread in months. I don't really miss it to be honest.

Not sure that Aspies...are meant to process bread products in their stomachs. Seems so many are gluten intolerant.

It seems that there are other ways to obtain carbohydrates? But bread is very convenient

Okay, something I wanna say:

Bread is perfectly fine. Carbs are not your enemy, many food things are not your enemy unless you have a direct averse reaction to them. If you do want bread, I would suggest getting it fresh from the bakery/bakery section at your local grocer, and not going for something made in a factory.

You don't need bread to create a healthy diet, but you can eat bread and still have a healthy diet.

I couldn't possibly cut out bread, but I did have a bit of a bread addiction until recently. Mom said I literally ate whole loaves of bread. It got to the point where she had to hide the bread so there'd be bread for everyone else.

hmmm... sad to say this but some of these atitudes about bread and it being just carbs...Is all very delicious.
but this stuff does seem to catch up to some older Aspies ! ....And oddly enough keep in mind that Aspies can be a sensative lot ..( maybe all those extra , neural fibers that developed since birth throughout the brain?)
But oddly enough ..sensativity in life , usually just doesnt occur in only one aspect of the overall anatomy .The Aspie
body does't get to pick and choose ,where these sensativities occur . Not just a sensative brain area..! but the entire friggin body ! . So if ""you"" as. Aspie get to be a older Aspie , one day. "You might note , this effect may occur through out your body" . So one might "beware of things" that might upset the physical Aspie body ? :nerdy:
So perhaps Gluten testing could a useful thing ? .....Particularily if you have a Aspie Anatomy .? imho .
((Researching other Sources of Carbs ))*** Its hard on anybody , as they age, to have been eating things their body was slightly allergic to all their lives . Older human tissues under daily assault from foods , that could possibly be a allergic substance, might have a harder time "in their bodies " as they age. And noones bodies are immune from aging either,,just by the way. 8O
