... like cordless phones and remote controls; since these things aren't shock-proof, he ends up gradually breaking them. What do you think I should do to stop this from continuing?

Talk to a doc. It could be a symptom of a few different disorder including a tremor disorder(like parkinson's), having had a stroke, medication side-effects, or some kinda muscle or other nerve disorder to name afew.
