There's an English folk song about Dick Turpin, a famous bandit. First time I heard it, I thought it went:

"With a hey ho, terrapin hero
Down in the Valley of the Terrapins o!"

instead of

"With a hey ho, Turpin hero
I am the valiant Turpin o!"

I did not have a lot of luck looking up "that song about the Valley of the Terrapins."

Thats the rare song in which mondegreens make more sense (or no less sense) than do the actual lyrics.

In a verse that lists "a mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, and my libido" why NOT potatoes as well? Lol! They are all seeming Non sequiturs. :lol:

I learned 5 minutes ago that I had Seal's "Kiss from a Rose" wrong. I though it went "Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave". It's "grey", not "grave".

I like my version better.
