That Jean-Pierre Decerf song you posted is cool in an out there way.

Thanks! :D I found the track about 3 months or so ago when I went on a trip to Austin for a couple days. I was searching for some old obscure electronic music from the 70's to the early 80's. I later found out it also belongs to a genre called "library music", which basically means the songs could be used in tv, radio, commercials, etc.

If you have any free time, you should check out a library music playlist, because there are a LOT of cool treasures waiting to be found. I literally downloaded probably over a hundred library music tracks onto my phone, and I still listen to them to this day. :)

My Mom wore this album out when I was a kid. I love that I grew up on music like this. I'm afraid I took this song a bit too far to heart. The last line: "And a rock feels no pain. And an island never cries." was burned into my memory as a kid. Even at a young age I wanted to be that rock and that island.

Did you know that's my personal anthem, Magna?

"I have my books and my poetry to protect me".

This song shaped me since I was four, and it represents everything I am.
Thanks for posting my gem.

I'm going to play my original vinyl now

This is a personal photo of mine that I've always associated with the song. It's 'me'.

I was familiar with the above song first since Nick Drake is a favorite of mine, but when the TV commercial below came out, I thought it was awesome. Not only the good taste of using such a great song, but the fact that words can't describe how I would have chosen the quiet summer night in the convertible with a few friends just like they did instead of the party.....I would even say the commercial below contrasts my view of the "NT" vs. the "ND" world very well. Watching the commercial makes me a bit misty actually.

A great live band. I saw them multiple times in the early 1990s in Minneapolis from a small bar to the larger venue, First Avenue. A great power trio. I've always liked bands with female bass players too for some reason.

I think I've posted this song before. This song describes a young woman I dated in my youth. Nearly every word (except for flaky skin or having a thousand lonely husbands). While some might take the words of this song as negatively describing someone, that's not how I see it. The girl I dated was an enigma and we shared an amazing time of our lives together....
