Kafka's best known work, The Metamorphosis, along with some of his short fiction in which the absurd meets the bizarre. So far, pretty good stuff.

I've read Metamorphosis. Found it quite upsetting actually, but very good nonetheless. Been meaning to find more of Kafka's stories.

Very frustrating read.

Gregor sometimes seems to passive about having been apparently exploited, yet his current condition is to bizarre to do much of anything. Otherwise, the story just progresses revealing what total scumbags his family can be.

Agreed. A particularly painful part I found was how his sister, who he was intending to treat with what money he could raise ended up rallying their parents against him to view him as a monster; that seemed the turning point of the story upon which his mind and body gave up. :(

The Langoliers, which is the first novella in Stephen King's compilation Four Past Midnight.

I would read this book, simply, for it's cover...and I am not at all, into sci-fi.

I started reading Here Be Dragons by Craig Alan. It's yet another hard sci-fi space warfare book I found off of Atomic Rockets. I also picked up Spacetug Copenhagen for free which is just space travel after hearing about it from the same website.
