On a whim yesterday, I created an OkCupid profile for myself. When I went to check it just now, I was greeted with my first message... from some dude asking if I wanted a sugar daddy. 8O :?

Is this a normal thing for women to get on there?

Also, I have no idea if I should respond with 'No.' or just ignore it. Could responding potentially give him the wrong idea, even if it's a negative response?

I cannot say for sure in regards to that site, but it sounds like a typical, awful man.

I would like to say, though, as a male, most of us are not like that, thankfully.

Could be a blanket response. When I was on Match, it was really obvious when guys just lined up all the pictures and then proceeded to wink at the ones they thought were cute. I got a lot of blanket (carpetbombing, really) e-mails, and when I wrote back to them thanking them but saying I wasn't interested, I'd still get the same e-mail message from them the next week or month or whatever.

It could be a genuine question but consider the question at all. For me, I'd be suspicious that he just looked up all the single mothers, hoping that though 99 times out of 100 he'd get his face slapped, there's always that 100th time...

My other suspicion is that he's married, so he's cutting to the chase (or doing without it, so to speak).

Welcome to the world of online dating. I didn't last too long. There are a lot of good guys out there, but also a lot of very damaged, unchecked, creepy guys.

I guess you could hope that he was kidding. I also saw a lot of well-meant, jokey "icebreakers" that fell flat with me.

Yes, thankfully. I don't even understand why a guy would want to be a sugar daddy.

The guy is rated as only a 39% match and a 58% enemy. I doubt he's seriously looking for anything, or that he went beyond peeking at the 3 pictures I have on there. He would have had no need to ask such a silly question otherwise.

OK Cupid is a great site if you like quizzes and tests.

Not so hot if you're actually trying to meet someone, in my experience. I did meet someone from there and it was a disaster of Hindenburg proportions. (Literally -- she was a lot bigger than she had led me to believe.)

I really don't use it anymore except for the occasional trivia quiz on some TV show or something.

Why you're taking it as self-selling?

It's purely a business deal, money for services.

Any sugar mommies are free to apply.
Australian mommies would have an advantage.

I'm actually indifferent when it comes to finding a partner. As I said, I made the profile on a whim. Mostly, I was curious how long it would take for someone to take an interest in me. As it turned out, someone put me as a favorite within the first few hours... before I was even finished filling out my profile.

No Boo. I am not a prostitute. Besides, I'm not interested in meaningless sex and can support myself.
