What the hell does that mean? Does that mean to be indifferent, or brutally honest? If you're indifferent, you have no opinion, and so you can't be brutally honest. If you're brutally honest, you have an opinion, so you can't be indifferent.

It is more akin to indifference than brutality. Knowing that the thoughts of others cannot hurt you, and bravely being yourself even if the thoughts of others are negative, is confidence.

Sometimes anxious people hold back from doing what they want because they are scared of what other people will think or they imagine they will get laughed at. A confident person doesn't care, or if they do they force it down into the background because they know that they need to do x y or z to accomplish their goal. ie go for that job interview, ask that girl out, learn to ski, go to the gym, answer up in class etc.

What if you're holding back an opinion? If you say what your opinion is, people would be like "why do you care?"
