What does it mean if "you don't give 2 s**ts about someone"?

More specifically what does "not give 2 s**ts mean?

It means you don't care about a person at all.

It is an extreme statement.

Why is it extreme?

It's extreme because it means you don't care about somebody AT ALL.

It's extreme if: If you care about somebody A LOT.
If you don't care about somebody AT ALL.

If you were in a room with someone that did not give 2 s**ts about you how would they behave towards you?

They would either ignore you or treat you like a person who had no right or reason to be there.

What do you mean by no right or reason to be there?

A person who doesn't care about you treats you like you don't exist. Like you're not there, and don't have the right to be there.

There has to be a reason why they would do it though?

It's likely that either you have offended them, or they find you offensive in some way.

People are rarely jerks for no reason at all; and if they are, then they are likely unpopular with nearly everyone else.

People usually are jerks for a reason, that reason may or may not have anything to do with you though. Sometimes you can be like a wall someone kicks as they walk past angry.

Some people are just jerks, pure and simple.

Nothing to do with the person being jerked around by the jerk.

It's just a turn of phrase, that's more likely when used in adult banter to say I don't give 2 s****s about something rather than someone. It's just a really non care attitude type of thing. I suspect you could blame it on all the UK banter over here.
