Have any of you turned to alternative social media outlets such as Gab and WrongThink?
If so how are you finding it?

I admit, there appears to be a bit of a circle jerk amongst political and ideological groups on these sites but I've found a lot of creatives to exist on those platforms as well irrespective of their leaning.

I'd also like to ask what drove people to such platforms?
I needed a change, and somewhere to speak freely at a time where I feel even thinking the "wrong" opinion on a slight scale could result in my personal details being handed out to millions of people. My timeline on Facebook is just exhausting as it is mostly people trying to look accomplished in life, and tell me what to think by sharing highly opinionated partisan material.

Never heard of Gab or WrongThink but I've used Fur Affinity, SoFurry, a lot of different adult based chat rooms and sites that I cannot name and Second Life although I don't really talk on there. At one point I was going to use Amino because there were some groups dedicated to furries, fictionkins and soulbonders but knowing how biased a lot of people are in those communities and from experience being someone "who gives a bad name to the community" I refused to participate.

No matter where you go there is the likely possibility that you'll run into people who want to bring you down. You're going to encounter people from all over the world with different opinions. And some people are not open minded to other's opinions. Most people in my eyes tend to act like sheep, they follow a social code and if you say something slightly "off" you'll most likely to be treated like an outcast. Happened to me countless of times.

Oh, also to answer your question, I just find alternative social media sites just from google searching things I'm interested in. I wanted to find supportive groups for my taboo and weird sexual attractions and beliefs, but I ended up finding mostly biased people. Although, I did make a few friends doing so.

A furry friendly social space. Interesting!
I guess I didn't take into account interest groups.

Yeah sucks that places like the one you mentioned (Amino) fall privvy to a larger problem facing humanity, and that is the herd mentality. No pun intended.

Yeah, not really so friendly from my experience. But it's probably just me and the way I am being a "bad example" of the furry community.

Being a zoosexual which is deemed one of the most terrible things to ever be in a furry community, Being a sexual furry and into "weird", "disgusting" fetish porn as well as being misanthropic.

These are just a few things many furries in the community DO NOT LIKE or tolerate and try to push people like myself out for giving the fandom a "bad name". Many for years have tried to get normies (people outside of the community) to believe that the furries are NOT these "gross" people. That furries don't have sexual interests towards real animals or are into these sick fetishes or do all these things that normies have been known to associated furries with. Of course it's not good to generalize all furries as something based on a stereotype, but when you're actually one of those people of that stereotype, you feel like an outcast, like you do not belong and you get treated badly for it.

And it's not just furries, a lot of communities do this sometimes if not most of the time for making their community look "good". Like the Sonic fandom. Considering yourself engaged to one of the characters puts you under the radar as part of the "weird" side of the fandom that no one wants to associate with because once again, you'll be making the community "look bad".

Your fetishes (if acted out on or offline) are illegal in a number of countries.
On those grounds, I can understand why some sites might have zero tolerance even towards advocating them.
If on the other hand you have not said anything publicly I don't know why that community would actively assassinate a character.

It would also be disappointing for them to ostracize you on the contentious basis that they want to be seen as doing the right thing and fighting stigmas in their community rather than actually believing these things to be wrong in the first place.

I already know that. I don't like being reminded.

Fair enough. Just trying to add some context to a post that is trying its best to be neutral.

Furries in general seem OK. There was a local group who used an old haunting ground of mine to host "What the Fluff". They seemed to really enjoy themselves and didn't take it too seriously.

I've noticed Gab Pro users can/will be able to create content and get subs/donations. This looks promising. I can't wait to see how it pans out!

I used DarkStarlings before. I used it because a friend on a forum & chatted with on messenger sometimes started using it(she was dating one of the admins) & she said it had an Asexual Category & some people used it to find relationships. It had lots of different groups & I joined more than a few but most of the 1s I joined weren't very active at all. The members on the groups were very nice but the members on their message board were hostile towards members who hadn't been there for years.
