Eye yi yi!

Work this summer will be fun... I can tell already and it's only day three back at work for me.

Anyway, I got to work with the other person at my job last night, the unmedicated bi-polar, who also has schizotypal personality disorder.

Needless to say I had "fun" so to speak

The following I observed...

10pm: Mood = :( - He was moping around with his head hung low as I went off to work with him.

11pm: Mood = :) - We engage in conversation, I find out about him, and I tell him about me. He talks up a storm about computers and I'm hard pressed to follow with what he's saying.

12am: Mood = 8O - I tell him about my past and my oddities, he gets really freaked out when I tell him he was born on a Tuesday.

1am: Mood = - My boss decides that 1am is too soon for break and his mood goes south really fast. He starts talking about shooting people and how he's an evil person.

2:30am: Mood = Apperently trying to get a bale out of the baler that's stuck was a lot of fun for him.

4am: Mood = It looks like we won't get out on time and he gets irked about that

5:45am: Mood = :( We get done 15 minutes early and head off. He's dead tired, but dosen't want to go to sleep becasue he has violent and scary dreams.

My god what a night. With my own limited capacity for reading people, I'm hardpressed to make up my mind as how to feel about him. On the one hand, I found myself wary of him, but when he's in a good mood, he, like the other person I wrote about is quite pleasnt to be around.

Yes, this will be a fun summer indeed!

Gosh,

No wonder my Para was glad to get me on the bus after the last driver refused to stay on his meds (same situation as above).

I can see your chaos, and to make it worse....
you are in the Autism Perspective in reaction
mode.

I use to live and work as a "someone to
look after" person for a Bi-Polar person.
He was 40 and I was 30.

God! Horrible experience, especially with
my limited patience, and quick temper
(more so then, then now).

He had multiple good and bad moods
and kept forgetting things. And Clingy!! !!
Oooooh Goddddddd! You couldn't shake
him off.

I feel for you, and Scoots don't make
him your enemy. He may be inclined
to forget that he ? and there is his excuse!

Hmmmmm?

Some of it sounds classic schizotypal to me, rather than Bipolar, maybe you should do a little googling on the subject, they can be strange people to get your head around, the StPDs but I sorta like them.

I had done some reading on it last summer when I was trying to rule out that I had aspergers during my month long search to discredit my original notion after I discovered aspergers.

I did some reading this morning on it and I realize what part of his personality is the STPD and what is the bi-polar part.

He was freaked when I told him about my hypersensitive hearing and photographic memory. But then he *really* freaked when I told him he was born on tuesday, even after how I explained how I figured it out, which only made him freak more (disclaimer - there's nothing special about my date calcualtion skills, just a lot of mental math and I don't claim it as a savant skill).

He told me "Dude, if you right I'm going to f@#$%^g scream! But that is just f@#$%^g nuts!!"

He then called me a "F@#$%^g real-life Rainman!!"

Which leads to the question: why would you voluntarily stop taking the meds if you know how badly you need them? Do they make you sick in other ways?

Hey Scoots,

I wonder if they're all writing to their online support groups about this autistic wierdo who's turned up at work, lol.

Sounds like his mood is all over the place and unredictable. I don't think I'd be able to figure him out.

I think I'd be shocked if someone was able to do that too.

A lot to reply to here...

For starters it's part of the disorder. I saw a 20/20 special about schizeophrenia and one of the facets of the disorder and other similar disorders is that when people take their meds and they get better, they get the illusion that they've been cured and they stop taking them and then they eventually relapse.

It wouldn't suprise me one bit.

1. I get the date I need to determine
2. I browse through my memory bank to try and find an "anchor date", a date I already know of and can use to count forward or backwards.

The whole thing is cheating if you ask me since I need to rely upon dates that I already know what day the of the week they occured on. It's not at all like some people where they pick any old date and think about it and a day just comes to them like it was out of thin air.

I have enough dates inside my head though that I look back on the past 25 years and determine a day with realative ease. However, sometimes I might need to whip out a piece of paper to help with the math.

Favorite task - Performing my afterwork routine.

1. Take a shower
2. Eat a little something
3. Catch up on events here
4. Go to bed
