Well, folks, it finally happened. Last night, while I was away working at Target, a business where I had had an interview two weeks ago called back and offered me a data entry position. I called them this morning and told them I'd take it after getting all the details (i.e., benefits, dress code, hours, etc.)

So, the question now is, "Whither Target?" Well, seeing as I have been enjoying working there as of late, I still would like very much to do so. However, it would be on a part-time basis (read in this context: on {across} the weekend.) The parentals and I have to discuss this, though. Stay tuned for details as they come in.

Hey, congrats on the new job! Way to go!

I'm glad you're liking Target too. I know some people don't but my brother-in-law enjoyed his time there...he stayed on part-time for five years! The stores around here seem to be pretty flexable about hours and stuff.

NYAspie,

Computers and Asperger folk
tend to theoretically go hand
in hand. Remember it isn't
the job, but more how does
the employer work with you.

Target seems accomodating,
and you say you enjoy it? Thus
keep it intact so if you have
a horrible "data-entry" boss,
you still have a out!, or option
to go to.

Good luck!

Good point, GH. Keep your foot in at Target at least until you know the data entry job is a good fit.

Actually, BeeBee and everyone, the higher-ups at my store have decided to play the bully with me. I left a note with the ETL saying that I would still like to work there, except on a part-time basis. But, after a phone call with her Thursday, I decided that I would be better off not working there anymore. :P So, I filled out a voluntary termination form where I requested and eventually got my release yesterday - not to mention I received my paycheck without any trouble at all. Ungrateful pricks... :x

NYAspie,

Sorry to hear the news.

I seem to notice Aspies put up with a lot more bullying in the workplace than NT's do. I'm sure you could have done well there if your colleagues had given you half a chance.

It is unfortunate so many NT's see us Aspies as either a cow to be milked or some kind of monster to be slain rather than seeing us as the strong horse that pulls the cart.

I know your tenure there was a very short one but from what you describe, I get another picture of corporate fascism

I hope you will be able to find a workplace with co-workers that will be more understanding and accepting of your condition. Whatever you do, good luck!
