It is final that as of Tuesday, July 12, I will have my first paid job!

I will be working at my local library with their computer system! I just got off the phone with a lady who works for an organization that provides jobs for people in my age group. She told me she is ready to work with me.

However, there is a bit of sadness in this story. I had tried to get a job with this organization a number of years ago, but I couldn't. They didn't have anyone to work with me.

Granted, I can do a lot of things on my own, but I do have weaknesses as well. I need help with those. With assistance, things will get done. Who knows? Eventually, I may be able to do more things for myself. I have an excellent support group.

I was extremely disappointed when I couldn't get a job before, but my feelings have changed completely for the better. I am looking forward to this job, and I hope I gain as much experience from it as possible.

Sounds like she knows of you disabilities. Is this
part-time? Full-time?

So, with patience and time, it all worked itself out!

What kind of weaknesses do you think you might
have?

Hmmmmm? How many people in this support group?

Ghosthunter:

I will be putting titles and information on books into a computer-organized database. The lady I spoke to was probably aware that I have cerebral palsy as well as AS. My job is part-time. My weaknesses are cooking, cleaning, and just about anything that involves motor skills. I have 9 people in my support group.

Please read my next reply to this thread!

There has been a change of plans since I last wrote. It worked out that I was going to go to an orientation today, then I was told it was going to be tomorrow. After that, I was told it was going to be Monday at my local YWCA. However, I realized that they did officially need me for training, so I have started. The job is a lot of fun, and I like it very much.
