We all come here for a reason-- to learn, to teach, usually both. I felt the same way as you even AFTER I had my son but since then I'm glad I'm here and my son is here because we're all here for a REASON. And by providing kids you're providing a body for that soul that has a reason to be here.
Providing a body for a soul...<sigh>
Dissociation is a defensive mechanism derived from the evolutionary process...
In essence, it alters a person's reality to protect the individual's emotional state...
Dissociation is an integral ingredient of religious philosophies...
If your emotional state is more important than your rationality, that is your choice and there isn't anything anyone can do to change your mind...
Nor should they unless your beliefs influence you or others to act or think in a destructive way or inhibit the self-actualisation process...
However, emotionalism does not and can not validate any form of inherent meaning of life, the universe and everything...since it is, by definition, out of phase with reality...
Ipso facto...there is no rational reason to bring a child in the world which does not involve self interest...
"The gift of life..."?
I believe the word "oxymoron" is approapriate here...since the "gift" is to oneself for some internal necessity/desire or as a result of some form of selfish/unthinking urge, rather than as a gift to the begotten...surely...
The oracle of truth has spoken...
