Hi Juliette! It's so nice to see you.
I hope you're doing well yourself after being so ill.

My ultrasound is today so I'm at peak capacity with anxiety.
Everything is status quo in terms of the pain, and it looks like I have a sunburn.

Deep breaths, right?

Good luck Isabella! :star: I can't find a shamrock for good luck so a star will have to do.

Thanks everyone.

Turns out there was something on the mammogram.
They did a core needle biopsy at my ultrasound appointment.
It wasn't too bad in terms of pain.
I'm bandaged up and icing it through the weekend.

I'm doing a skin biopsy tomorrow on the red stuff.
It might not even be related to the suspicious area.

I don't have the results yet on anything.
There's reason to think it's possibly benign but we don't know.

As usual I'm an atypical presentation and I'm a puzzle to solve.

Keep breathing.

I hope it is benign.

Yes, same here about atypical presentation. My body does not work like other humans' bodies do. I empathise with you.

I got the biopsy results yesterday.
It's not cancer.

WHOOOT!

That's a huge relief.

We still don't know what the f it is, though.
They're thinking it's an autoimmune reaction.
To what?
F*** if I know.

I've started on steroids to reduce the inflammation.
They switched me to a second kind of antibiotic.
I need more blood tests.

They're thinking I might have Lupus like my daughter.
Apparently there's such a thing as Lupus Mastitis.
Your immune system attacks your boob(s).

I have some of the markers for it but I need more tests.
If it is Lupus I'll need to take antimalarial meds.

If it's Lupus it might also explain what's attacking my kidney.

My symptoms are still the same but I hope these steroids help.
In the meantime I'm feeling kinda zany.

Prednisone gives you wings.

My doctor gave me prednisone for when my asthma flares up. It works wonders for that. But I'm only supposed to take it for 5 days at a time.

It causes weight gain and a round face shape. I'm already fat and my doctor doesn't want me to gain more weight.

If you find yourself gaining weight, see if there's an alternative to prednisone.

If I don't have Lupus or some other autoimmune disorder, I'll only be on it for five days.

My daughter took it longterm for Lupus and gained 80 pounds in a couple of months.
It was intense.
I felt so sorry for her.
She was only 19-20.
Thank goodness she lost all the weight when she stopped taking it.

I don't think I would take it long term unless it was absolutely necessary.

It's already helping my boob.

I'm so glad it's not cancer. I hope it gets better asap.

What a cheeky disease attacking your boob though! It's obviously a perv.

Turns out it's not Lupus Mastitis. ^

I don't have Lupus or any other known autoimmune disease, despite the inflammatory markers.

They have another theory but it's pretty cray.

Oh I hope they find out the reason.

I don't know about you but I'm tired of going to the doctor with a problem, they can't find out what it is because I am atypical and not a textbook case for anything. So nothing gets done. I don't go to the doctor much anymore.

Just wondering if they checked your hormones? Some women can still have rather high estrogen level after menopause and that can cause breast pain.

Also the kind of bra you've been wearing can be relevant. I've heard people complain before about bras from Victoria's Secrets being full of chemicals and causing rash and inflammations. There was a lawsuit about it years ago. It's probably not limited to just one brand, but they're better known. If you haven't tried, maybe go bra-free for a month and see if there's any improvement. :)
