Will it be animated, or just a static model?

Probably won't be animated. Rigging and weight painting are a pain in the a**. I know it would spice up the animation for the reel but by the time I get to that point, I'll probably have more important priorities. It's not my animation skill I want to demonstrate here anyway.

I was thinking about starting with a turnaround of the nude model and then having the armor pieces swoop in and cover it while it transitions into a turnaround of the armed version though. A lot less rigging that way and it might be a cool effect, what do you think?

Sounds good. Old nude woman becomes Ultra Mega Armoured Killer Old Woman! Will she have a catch phrase and morph effect? "By the power of belly rolls!"

I was feeling arty last night, since I couldn't sleep, and came across some charcoal simulant stuff in the loft. I've never really used charcoal before, so I made a couple of quick 5-10 minute sketches to get a feel for it. I was just going by the whims of my imagination, so they're a bit abstract compared to my usual work.

First one I did:

I am quite jelous of pryaxis. Your organic stuff is quite good.
The last person I tried to make looks like this:

as you can see, I have no organic ablity.

I like your texture map, did you make all of it yourself?

I also seem to be going through a "drafters" block these days. . . .
I haven't done any big projects for myself since the begining of school

Thanks :D

Usually I use photo source for my texture maps (www.fineart.sk is amazing!) but I heard that some companies look for handpainted textures on a demo reel so I'm painting this one from scratch. I used some photos for color references but that's about it.

I haven't done many projects for myself lately either. When I was in school I was so busy with classwork and other stuff that I didn't have time to think of my own work. But I'm taking advantage of a summer off.

Nice work on the anatomy, Sophist. It's hard to see the detail in the Schizophrenia one but I like the atmosphere. A good style for illustrating a Poe story, maybe. All the twisted lines and shapes remind me of Dali.

Do you have any pics of the finished sculpture? What mediums do you use? Clay used to be my favorite... until I discovered super sculpey and now I never want to go back.

Actually, I had drawn the sculpture prep piece for a candle carving I was going to do. Inevitably though, the carving conformed more to the shape of a man during the process (don't ask me why), so I had to change my original idea. Currently, it has been "in progress" for about nine months now, lol. The main reason being, the scent of this particular candle makes my eyes and nose itch.

I have never been very big on RL 3-D art simply because I'm not terribly good at it. In art, I tend to see everything and break everything down into flat plains. So if it all isn't visible at once, I don't "see" it. My spatial skills are very bad. Sculpture One is the only art class I've ever gotten a C in. :?

As I like to say: I can't imagine the backside of a cube!

Though my candles have turned out very well. I think it also has to do with the size of the 3-D art. The smaller it is, the easier time I have of "seeing" it.
