Do you think healthcare is a right?

Most people who live in countries with universal healthcare are genuinely satisfied with their coverage. They typically pay less money for better coverage.

So ... are you anti-military?
I'm just asking. You seem to hate the government, and the US military has an especially poor track record when it comes to improving people's lives.
Ronald Reagan one said that the scariest sentence ever is "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Personally, I think that "I'm from someone else's government and I'm here to help." is much scarier.
Why do some people say it is not a right?
Because they are conservative. Every conservative I have seen are all bigoted and closed minded so I don't like any of them. Conservatives are against universal healthcare. Why? Because they don't care about the elderly and the disabled and everyone. They don't care if you get into an accident and get a $200,000 medical bill even with insurance.

Your ignorance is astounding. You're the close minded bigot here.

We had a guy here several years ago you'd like. He despised conservatives and claimed that he had been tortured by them. He claimed that conservatives made people want to die. He claimed that all conservatives were poison and should be kept away from children, including thier own. He wanted them all to be placed in internment camps.
With me (a conservative) he said he'd like to sodomize me with a corn cob and staple my eyelids open so I'd have to watch while he destroys belongings of mine.
He was hilarious and I wish we had someone like him here now.

I'm pretty sure that League_Girl never said anything comparable to that.
Don't be so harsh dude. League_Girl was polite to me back when I joined this site in 2010. For that, I am eternally grateful.

But it's great entertainment just the same as indicated by the laughter emoticons.

Another thing, they bash people over the head with the "life is not fair" bit but when it comes to what they feel is unfair like welfare programs they demand their version of fairness themselves.

Yep.
They constantly bash us over the head with "harsh realities" such as "Apart from the work you do, you have no value."
... but there are some harsh realities that they just can't take. They can't handle the fact that Heaven has never been proven to exist, and it probably doesn't exist. They can't handle the fact that the American west was won by genocidal extremists who used racism and religious fundamentalism to justify their actions.
The whole "Us conservatives can handle harsh realities." thing is bollocks.
There are a lot of conservatives who will say "I'm offended!" when they hear any criticism of American history, the US military or religion ... and then they will hypocritically criticize some segments of the left who rely on "I'm offended." as a get out of rationality free card.
Yes, political correctness sucks. People who whine about sexy video games are losers ... but right-wing political correctness is no different.
People are offended by everything nowadays. The only possible way to not offend anybody is to stay perfectly still and not make a sound. In other words, the hyper-sensitivity of the modern world has created a social moral code so demanding that nobody can think, speak and act in a completely moral way. If modern political hypersensitivity were put into law, that would be totalitarianism.

I like the Singapore model of payroll tax funded private HSA (health savings accounts) with government insurance as a backstop, only if someone doesn't have enough funds.
The first money depleted is the person's HSA money, before government insurance kicks in.
It's *your money*, your private account, so you're mindful of how *your money* is being spent. Eventually, you can "cash out" a large % when it gets above a certain level, or let your family inherit it when you die.
That way everyone is forced to pay, and everyone is discouraged from using it.

What about those on benifits who don’t work and never will?

Once their HSA is depleted, then the free government insurance kicks in for them.
At least, we take some from people with money, and discourage use.

Ok Raptor, why don't you address what DarthMetalKnight and I have said here instead of being an immature child.
Or, be the eagle, soar, fly away, quit being a b***h boy whiner, pay your f*****g taxes and shut the f**k up. Life's not fair dude.
