I've read articles that have stated that there may be a link between early childhood seizures and autism spectrum disorders. I had a seizure when I was three years old as the result of an allergic reaction to penicillin. I sometimes wonder if that has anything to do with the other problems I've had throughout my life. I know I was always very shy & withdrawn, even before the seizure, according to my mother, but I wonder if the seizure could have altered my brain chemistry to such an extent that it caused me to have a lot of other problems throughout my life. I wonder if the seizure took what was naturally a very shy, quiet, withdrawn child, & possibly put my brain into a more severe state, possibly causing an autism spectrum disorder. Or if I was just born already on the autism spectrum & the seizure had nothing to do with anything in my later life.

Has anyone on this forum had any experiences with seizures during childhood, specifically early childhood, & do you believe there is a link between seizures & autism spectrum disorders? I'd just like to hear any thoughts that anyone may have on the subject.
Thanks :)

In order for seizures to happen, there has to be a warrant or probable cause.

I don't seem to be having seizures as far as I know.
I used to have meltdowns but I could never seem to remember them at all, I don't even remember giving my brother a deep cut. :?

Could that well be one?

I used to have really bad seizures where I
would not remember doing something.

The probable cause for my seizure was an allergic reaction to the penicillin that was given to me.

I think I made a pun. The word seizure had a double meaning.

Anyway, there is already a thread on this :(

Sorry, but I didn't see it. I saw one that had to do with seizures, but it wasn't the same question at all. There might be one that was made a long time ago that I just never saw, though.

I'm sorry I didn't realize your reply was meant to be a joke (pun). I thought you were being serious.
