a few weeks ago i been on holiday to the Tunisian Island of Djerba, i went there because i was fascinated about the Jewish history, the Jewish community in Djerba was said to have been traced back during the Destruction of the First temple of Jerusalem (Although there is no evidence to prove that and the Jews in Djerba could be descendents of Berber converts to Judaism or Jewish exiles fron Jerusalem during the destruction of the second temple by the romans). The Jewish community in Djerba coexisted with the Muslim Jerbans for a thousand years, even though many Djerban Jews have sadly emigrated to Palestine, there is still a jewish community in Djerba still coexisting with the Muslims. a few years ago the famous La Ghriba Synagogue (which was said to be on one of the oldest sites of a synagogue) was bombed killing 21 people (luckily no Jews died) , the Muslims and Jews of Jerba saw the bombing as an outrage. since then the Tunisian government became more protective with the Jews. here are some videos about Djerba.
