How do you find it?

As a registered practitioner, I'm bound to advise you that you need to complete the form and have it analysed by a practitioner who will talk you through the result. This is the reliable way to find your true personality type using this indicator.

There are various online versions of the test, some more reliable than others. These CAN produce a reliable outcome (c60-70% of the time?), but you miss out on the refining process, and on the vital explanation of what the result DOES or DOESN'T mean.

There has been little investigation of the impact of autistic traits on personality type and on the outcome of these tests, so proceed with a certain amount of caution when it comes to interpreting the outcome when you take the MBTI. For what it's worth... I am clear about what my own type is, but it isn't the same as the type that emerges when I complete the questionnaire! My type is part of my mental wiring, but the impact of my autism is to impede the operation of some of my identified personality strengths.

I've been a practitioner for around 13 years, using MBTI with individuals and with groups. I'm happy to answer questions people might want to ask. I'm sure there are other registered practitioners on WP who would be pleased to do the same.

I'm an INTP, by the way! :D

On 9th of December I wrote this:

ISTJ (previously I got ISTP)

Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging
Strength of the preferences %
100 38 38 33

You are:

very expressed introvert
moderately expressed sensing personality
moderately expressed thinking personality
moderately expressed judging personality

(Note: I'm in a bad mood and I'm not an Aspie or Autistic any more, as I've been just DXd with frikin' PDD-NOS)

On 23rd of December I wrote this:

Personality types might manifest themselves differently in autistics. Lesser social aspect is expected. In the case of ISTJ:

ISTJs generally have the following traits: (I bolded that DOESN'T apply to me)

Value tradition, security, and peaceful living
Will work long and hard to fulfill duties
Can be depended on to follow through on tasks
Loyal and faithful
Stable, practical and down-to-earth
Family-minded
Dislike doing things which don't make sense to them
Dislike abstract theory, unless they see the practical application
Natural leaders
Prefer to work alone, but work well in teams when necessary
Extremely observant, they take in facts via their senses and store them internally
Vast, rich inner store of facts which they rely on to understand problems which they encounter in their lives
Profound respect for facts and concrete information
Make decisions objectively, applying logic and rational thinking
Dislike change, unless they are shown it's benefit in a concrete way
Have strong opinions about the way things should be done
Appreciate structured, orderly environments
Have very high standards for their own behavior and the behavior of others
Not naturally in-tune with other people's feelings
Able to accomplish almost anything if they put their minds to it
Community minded "good citizens"

I think it comes down to not having good enough Theory of Mind and having ADHD traits (issues with executive functioning).

Possible Career Paths for the ISTJ: (I bolded that DOES apply to me)

Business Executives, Administrators and Managers
Accountants and Financial Officers
Police and Detectives
Judges
Lawyers
Medical Doctors / Dentists
Computer Programmers, Systems Analysts, and Computer Specialists
Military Leaders

The first time I took an online version of the MBTI, I took a VERY long and comprehensive version of the test and got INTJ. I took a shorter version more recently and got INTP. I personally think the INTJ is more correct, especially since the test that gave me the INTJ result was longer and delved more deeply into my personality. Both of my results, though, are common in AS and scientists, though, so I feel both are good descriptions of me. INTJ hit it more head-on in the description, though.

Your Type is INTJ
Strength of the preferences % Introverted 67 Intuitive 38 Thinking 62 Judging 11

Qualitative analysis of your type formula

You are:

distinctively expressed introvert
moderately expressed intuitive personality
distinctively expressed thinking personality
slightly expressed judging personality

I could have told you this....the more tests I take, the more aspie I feel.

There have been a thread about this already, most Aspies reported being I*T*.

It'll be intresting to see if this thread ends up the same. If so, looking for I*T* could become a very useful diagnostics tool for psychiatry when looking for Autism.

(btw, INTP).

interesting how 90% of respondents so far have indicated a intuitive rather than sensing personality.

Sensors freak me the heck out! lol... They are some of the most stressful people in my life

The non autism chat section has a sticky thread for this that received about 500 answers. The majority of the answers were INTJ, as they will be here.

I don't seem to fit into any MBTI.

I chose ESFP because I wanted to see the results, please disregard it. I chose it because it's the one very few autistics would choose.

I've had proper tests done by professionals as well as the online ones and I always get INTJ.
