Age:
19

Location:
Florida, Miami

Hobbies and Interests:
Video games, drawing, psychology, computer programming, etc

Why are you here?
To mingle with other Aspergers for the sake of improving my social skills, but my crippling shyness keeps me from doing it... now I've only the courage to make a post here every now and again.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
Aspergers, around age 8.

Favorite subjects:
Computer Programming

Year/Grade:
In college, third year.

Favorite music:

Pretty much anything with a well-composed instrumental. Most of such music I know of comes from video games with non-lyrical soundtracks, though.

Books:
Feeling Good, by David Burns

TV shows/Movies:
None, but there is this online web show called Game Theory (by the channel known as The Game Theorists) that I really enjoy.

Instrument:
Used to play trumpet in middle school, and the recorder in elementary school, but have never done it again since.

Do you like sports?
Not really...I would be if my upbringing didn't prohibit or discourage me from pursuing sports.

Family:
My extremely overprotective, infantilizing mother.

Clothing:
Plain stuff.

How did you find this website?
A counselor of sorts several years ago recommended it to me.

Job: None; in college.

Plans for the future?
Mostly getting over my depression and overcoming my issues with learning to draw.

Any comments?
Nothing, I guess.

What is your first name? Nyx.

Age: Currently 25.

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland

Hobbies and Interests: Cats, creative writing*, offline gaming, fantasy, horror, science fiction, magick, serial killers. To varying degrees with the gaming being the main one currently.

*in relation to any of the interests listed

Why are you here? I'm going for a specialist assessment at some point. Highly suspecting Aspergers. Even if not I feel I fit into the Broader Autism Phenotype and I personally don't believe the current model is wide enough.

Favorite subjects: Not in school but it was English.

Favorite music: Eclectic music taste but prefer orchestral, strings, and alt pop/rock. Also Dethklok.

Books: A few. The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien was the first one that came to my head.

TV shows/Movies: IT Crowd, Metalocalypse, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind, Amélie. Apparently Amélie herself is suspected to be on the spectrum. When I learned this about the character I became very excited because I've connected deeply with her since I first watched the movie as a pre-teen.

Instrument: Wish I could play cello.

Do you like sports? Hate the competitive nature that occurs with them but enjoy the aesthetics of gymnastics, figure skating, diving, etc.

Family: Only contact with two cousins through FB and my Dad on email after recently re-establishing contact. I consider my unofficial carer my family and my two cats.

Clothing: Usually I look like a beatnik, all black with leggings. Other times like a metalhead teenage boy when I wear a t-shirt too big and my boots.

How did you find this website? It seems friendly and useful so far.

Job: Disability Benefit receiver.

Plans for the future? Live is spiraling out of control right now but if it stabilises I'd simply like to write for table-top games. Not even for a career as I'm unlikely to ever be fit for work. I'd also like safe and non-sexist polygamy so may eventually try to campaign for it. And I suppose I'd like to find a quirky chick who may even be asexual though I am not to spend my life with. I can sort out my own sexual urges as long as she enjoys to kiss and hug.

Any comments? I'd be interested in more questions. I like answering stuff.

What is your first name?
On here? Fisplen
Age: 15

Location: Wales, UK

Hobbies and Interests: I occasionally use my telescope to look at stuff in the sky, I use to write and make stories but I abandoned that some time ago, I can't really think of any hobbies I have to be honest :/, I use to be big on video games, I still play some, but not to the extent to which I was say, 2 years ago or so, does making money count as a hobby? Jesus this is embarrassing isn't it, no real hobbies.

Fortunately my many interests make up for my lack of hobbies or skills, these include: Politics, Modern History, Astronomy, Architecture ( mainly modern ), currently trying to learn German, but not sure if that should be an interest or a hobby, finding ways to cope with life if that counts.

Why are you here?

On my second attempt at a comeback on these forums, when I basically did nothing and faded back into obscurity back in my first attempt in February

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder):
Well, officially its suspected, but all the doctors say I may aswell be diagnosed, we just haven't got to it. But I was tested for Asperger's about 9-10 years ago, when I was just a wee kid.

Year/Grade: Going onto Year 12 in September to start Sixth Form, atm I'm in the middle of my long summer break.

Favorite music: Rap, mainly old-school, NWA, Tupac, Biggie's gotta be my favorite. I'm into a lot of R@B from the 90s up until around the early 00's, along with house music too.

Books: 1984, The Hunger Games series.

TV shows/Movies: Breaking Bad, The Wolf of Wall Street, Inglorious Basterds

Do you like sports?
I like watching some sports, mainly football. But I don't play any, mainly because I'm terrible.

Family: I live with my Mum and 3 sisters.

Clothing: Anything goes, but I mainly wear a simple, not to decorated shirt and tracksuit bottoms or shorts if its summer, I don't really care what people think of me so I wear whatever's most comfortable

How did you find this website?

I don't like the changes to the forums since I've been gone, the new look is just blugh, I didn't update my iOS from version 6 because of the new looks, I just hate things being changed like that, no one was complaining before, for me it was much easier to navigate around in before these changes.

Job: Self-employed, kind of.

Plans for the future?

Get good A-levels, get an undergraduate degree in business, go travelling, come back in my mid 20's and start making my dream of operating my own nightclub or perhaps theme park, becoming very rich and famous of it becoming a worldwide renowned brand, a reality. ( Do I sound naive and unrealistic? Well better to aim for the stars and miss than to just poke your head above the clouds. )

Any comments?

This is my second time posting a reply in this thread, not sure if that's aloud... but my last one was quite some time ago, well over a year I would say, so surely there can't be a problem with doing this again after so much time?

I don't study anything yet, but I already independently covered the most important parts of the material I am interested in.
I might go for neuroscience, but I am not sure since there are so many things that need to be studied.

If there are any more questions regarding this, you can send me a pm :)

What is your first name? Indigo

Age: 19

Location: UK

Hobbies and Interests: I'm an avid reader(books and comics). My interests are languages(and grammar), biology, mythology, culture, feminism, and the occult. Oh and psychiatry, I'm interested in conditions, possible causes, current diagnostic criteria and how they've changed; and why. Past ones include astronomy, paleontology and maths.

Why are you here? I most definitely meet the criteria for PDA/PDD-NOS. I have not been diagnosed because of my mother's denial, GP's lack of interest, and the fact that ASD has been and is still underdiagnosed where I was born. My current psychiatrist says she suspects I may have ASD but "doesn't want to put a label" on me. Which is seriously ironic because I have had trouble getting support before with my depression and anxiety, because of this same lack of diagnosis/"label".
So I'm here to socialize and "meet" people with similar experiences.

When were you diagnosed?(skip if you don't have a disorder): see above.

Favorite subjects: English, Spanish, Chemistry, Biology. Previously, Maths.

Year/Grade: Out of school, but *hopefully* starting college(sixth form) this autumn.

Favorite music: All sorts really. I do prefer rock, and 60's music but I listen to anything that appeals to me.

Books: The Harry Potter Series. A Fine And Private Place by Peter S Beagle.

TV shows/Movies: Currently obsessed with/watching The Flash. I also like Adventure Time. My favourite film is Guardians of the Galaxy. My mom's favourite film was Two Weeks Notice and I really like that one too.

Instrument: Piano, still trying. Ukulele and guitar, want to learn.

Do you like sports? Yes! My favourite sport is swimming. I love watching it as well as practicing, it helps me de-tense.

Family: My grandma, Uncle and Dad.

Clothing: I really like wearing black. And red. I've been told I dress "inappropriately", by which I suppose they meant I wear clothes that are a bit revealing. But, ??!?

How did you find this website? I was searching for a forum, and voilà.

Job:hahaha. I only hope. My favourite bookstore will start hiring soon...

Plans for the future? Finish college, get a degree, get work experience, be an author, get to work for an important publication, and/or establish my own.

Any comments? Someone said they'd like more questions because they like answering them. Same here.

What is your first name? Ryan

Age: 23

Location: England

Hobbies and Interests: Sound Design, Music, Writing, PC Games, Foreign Languages/Cultures/Cuisine, Philosophy.

Why are you here? The whim of fate.

When were you diagnosed? Asperger's in 2000, ADHD in 2011, currently being seen for Depression.

Favorite subjects: I graduated high school in 2010. Haven't been to College.

Year/Grade: If I was still in high school, I'd have finished 17th grade. :P

Favorite music: Anything with a really nice melody. I also listen to music in more than 20 different languages.

Books: Mostly Audiobooks about self-improvement. Mostly by Bob Proctor, Jim Rohn, Earl Nightingale, Brian Tracy, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Zig Ziglar, and others.

TV shows/Movies: Diners Drive-ins & Dives, Redwall, Hetalia, The Tailor of Gloucester (animated), Dance of the Vampires, A Christmas Carol (Alistair Sim).

Instrument: Hard to say but it depends on how they're placed.

Do you like sports? Absolutely not. Back in middle school, people mistook my face for the goal post when playing soccer.

Family: One sister, mother, father.

Clothing: I like wearing comfy clothes. I spent a lot of time indoors so I love wearing pajamas, especially during winter.

How did you find this website? I was here on a previous account known as autistic_lucario but I lost my login info and couldn't retrieve it, so I decided it was time to make a new account.

Job: Sound Engineer, Game Developer

Plans for the future? Work on and publish an RPG in the works called Uniques United. Lose a bunch of weight. Develop better personal and social habits. Be more sociable, friendly, and forgiving towards other people. Release past worries, regrets, and emotional burdens. Eventually earn enough money so my dad can retire from his job and start doing what he wants (he's wanted to visit the fjords in Norway on a cruise ship, so I'm making that one of my goals). Weave a constructive philosophy into my stories, including Uniques United.

Any comments? - It's great to be back. I hope this time, I'll make a difference somewhere on these forums. :)

What is your first name?

Rajih

Age:

39

Location:

Anchorage, Alaska

Hobbies and Interests:

Writing, Drumming, Reading, Music, Poetry, Henry Rollins, Autism, Body Modification, Suspension (With Hooks), Needle Crafts, Bead Crafts, Collecting Yaoi Manga, Pen & Ink Art (Specifically Stipling), Socialism, Anarchism, Language, Human Behavior, Singing, Spirituality, Noam Chomsky, Freedom, Plants & Trees, Mushrooms, Photography, Feminism, Legend Of Zelda: this is the beginning of a list much too long to put here.

Why are you here?

Why are any of us here?

When were you diagnosed?:

In 2006, when I was 30. My second neuro-psych exam was last year, 2014, and it just re-confirmed.

Favorite subjects:

Deep Space Astronomy, Biology, Mycology, Poetry, Music, Language (Anything Dealing With Any Language, Though I Prefer English & Japanese & Anglo-Saxon), Chess, Shamanism, (Starting To Really Love) Anthropology, Chen-Style Taijiquan, Soto Zen Buddhism

Year/Grade:

In my Senior year of college, which means nothing LoL; I've got eight years under my belt for a four year degree.

Favorite music:

Twenty-One Pilots (Obssessing VERY Hard On Them Right Now), Corvus Corax, Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Black Flag, Flipper, Bring Me The Horizon, Korn, Skrillex, Deadmau5, 2DL, Deep Forest... so many others, I can't begin to name them all.

Books:

I will read anything in print. (And anything out-of-print too, heh). This is an extremely small sample of what I've read, and I'm sure I haven't touched on nearly 1/4 of the genres I've read in my years in this lifetime. I highly recommend anything from the list below:

Tailchaser's Song (Williams), Middle Earth Series (Tolkien), Sacred Kink: The Eightfold Paths Of B.D.S.M. & Beyond (Harrington), The King James Christian Bible (Printed By Robert Barker), Valdemar Series (Lackey), Pern Series (McCaffrey), Circle Of The Cosmic Muse (Simms),The Boreal Herbal (Gray), The Spirit Catches You And You Fall Down (Fadiman), The Dark Series (Feehan), Stone Butch Blues (Feinberg), You're My Loveprize In Viewfinder (Yamane), Dark Moon Rising: Pagan B.D.S.M. & The Ordeal Path (Kaldera), etc.

TV shows/Movies:

Shows: Supernatural, Face Off, Red Dwarf, Sherlock (B.B.C.), Ink Master, Black Adder, anything with Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson (I don't, generally, watch TV).

Movies: Hackers, Dogma, What The Bleep Do We Know?, Zeitgeist, Taken, The Truman Show, The Sea Prince & The Firechild, 28 Days Later, The Dark Crystal, Brotherhood Of The Wolf, Labyrinth, Star Trek Into Darkness (all of the "new" Star Trek movies with Chris Pine), Monty Python's Search For The Holy Grail, Watchmen, Donnie Darko, A Clockwork Orange, Seven, The Usual Suspects, Blade Runner, almost any documentary about Nature, Space, Animals, Quantum Mechanics, Etc.

Instrument:

Drums, Rattles, Tamborine, Etc.--I am, primarily, a percussive/rhythm instrumentalist, and a singer. Though I can play the clarinet, saxophone (any instrument with similar fingering), pick at a keyboard and guitar, AND on my "Life's To-Do" list is to learn to play the mandolin at some point during the remainder of my life.

Do you like sports? Yes. Watch & Play. However, I do not go out of my way to watch it.

Watch: Figure Skating, Gymnastics, Sumo Wrestling, American Wrestling (WWE, WWF, etc.), Cage Fighting, Roller Derby (I was invited to join the local Roller Derby team several years ago, but couldn't, due to my broken neck & back, sadly--someday, maybe, if it ever heals), Hockey (Well, I am in Alaska LoL), Baseball & Softball, anything Martial Arts, Ballet (LOVE watching Ballet!! !), Middle Eastern Dance (A.K.A. "Belly Dancing"), Alaskan Indigenous Dance

Play/Do: Broomball (Hockey-Like), Middle Eastern Dance, Chen-Style Taijiquan (been doing this for years now through college), Baseball & Softball, Alaskan Indigenous Dance (I'm Sugpiaq, and we have awesome dance, song, and traditional costume!), Bicycle Touring, Hiking, Berry Picking (believe it or not, with how much competition there is for good berry spots, I'm sure this could be considered "full contact" LoL), Fishing, Cage Fighting (okay, I don't cage fight... but I would LOVE to, if it weren't for my spine).

Family:

Yes. I have one. With many members.

Like... two I live with (my spouse/partner), and our kid, Four Of Five.

My ex-husband lives down the street from us and has kids Three Of Five (diagnosed as on the spectrum) and Five Of Five.

My parents, who live 20 miles from us, have Two Of Five (also diagnosed as on the spectrum).

One Of Five is an adult and married. She and her husband will be moving back to AK in August. One Of Five's other mother lives literally two and a half minutes from us.

And I have many Aunts and Uncles. And through them, many Cousins.

Clothing:

Yes. I wear clothing. Mostly. I tend to go nude in my house. And sometimes not in my house.

I identify (sometimes) as a punk/hippie hybrid, and I wear clothes apropos to that identity.

How did you find this website?

Through intention.

Job:

I am a student, at the moment, and that is my only "job", so to speak.

I do have a vocation: I am a Shamanic Priest, ordained for going on two years now and was (still am, really) in training before that for decades.

Plans for the future?

Get my rough draft completed by the end of August 2015, or December 2015 at the absolute latest (only if I need the extra time).

Get the book turned in to the publisher I've been in communication with.

Any comments?

Nothing is impossible. Maybe highly improbably--but never impossible!
