New 3DS Thread | 3D the way it was meant to be viewed
Welcome to the New 3DS thread!
Let's talk about how much we love our New 3DSs and New 3DS XLs.
If you're interested in getting one, feel free to post as well.
Right now I am loving playing Majora's Mask 3D on mine (as well as my older games)
My favorite 2 new features are the face tracking/super stable 3D and light sensor/auto brightness.
Though sometimes my glasses are reflecting something that can disrupt the tracking making the 3D a bit unstable. Though for the most part it works with my glasses on. The other new feature I greatly appreciate is the light sensor which allows me to use the auto brightness feature when out and about. This significantly extends my battery life when out in public.
You can read the rest of my review on my website Here
Here's my New 3DS XL

Also feel free to post which New 3DS you have

Seriously after week of playing with mine, I cannot stop using the 3D.
The system fits my hand perfectly allowing me to play for hours on end without cramps.

How's the camera? Does it actually accept the fact that there's light or does it still require a freaking flashbang to go off before it decides the room is "well lit"? I really want to play the AR games and Spirit Camera.....
There is a downside to getting the N3DSXL next month though...I have to wait until April to get Codename STEAM and Fossil Fighters Frontier

I haven't used the AR cards or camera yet.
They just don't interest me anymore.
I'll try later today and respond.
Well thankfully I only have Wii U, 3DS and the occasionally Steam game.
I just paid off CodeName Steam and cannot wait to get it and the Majora's Mask preorder pin.
I have Ike, Mega Man, Villager, Link and Zelda.
I am wanting Toon Link.
Good luck on finding Mega Man and Ike...
Talk to me again if you cannot find Mega Man, I might be willing to let go of him for the right price
Maybe the labor dispute at the West Coast ports have been settled, allowing for full work to resume.
Hopefully this will allow shipment from Asia to finally start rolling in again.

Man, I am still not used to the new forum...I keep clicking on "REPORT" instead of "QUOTE"... >_<
The first thing I read about the New 3DS was that they were improving the brightness of the camera.
I don't think they were improving anything else about it, though, so I'm sure photos will still look pretty bad =)

I'm really interested on a NewXL, but I'll wait a few months until it's prices get better here, and even then I'll probably have to sell my old XL to be able to buy it. I might also wait to be sure that people will get homebrew working on it since they are finally coming out on the old 3DS and I love using some of them.

I got the Majora's Mask New 3DS, however I had to exchange it for another one as I had three dead pixels on the first one. This one I have now is perfect, aside from the top screen being able to be moved and it being a bit flappy, which really isn't a problem as I'm almost perfectly prone while playing in bed.
It's been almost a month now.
Here's how the new features works on the following games:
1) Animal Crossing: New Leaf; The 3D works well for seeing depth, especially behind buildings, structures and trees. This makes finding fossils and gyroids so much easier. It also makes fishing and bug catching a tad easier too. Though many of the fish look better in 3D as well. 3D also works well when placing furniture in your house. The rain and snow also have more depth to them.
3D is a decent improvement here
Load times are faster
The new screens have better color, which better shows off the game
2)Smash Bros 3DS; the 3D effect makes many of the stages and moves POP! it doesn't add much to the game play aspect. The C-stick works quite well for doing smash attacks. The new specs make the load times almost instant in most cases. You can now add screenshots to Miiverse and quickly switch to a different app and game. I haven't used Amiibos on it yet, but with the most recent update you can.
3D effect is cosmetic at best
C-stick makes doing smash attacks easier
The quicker loading, switching of games, Amiibos usage, and Miiverse makes this seem full featured compared to other 3DS games.
3)Majora's Mask 3d; makes good use of the 3D effect, it allows for better depth and aiming in game. Majora's Mask 3D also has slightly better textures running on the New 3DS. The c-stick allows for full camera controls. This all makes playing on the New 3DS better.
3D effect adds much needed depth to viewing
C-stick is much needed camera controls
4) Monster Hunter 4U; benefits greatly from the new 3D effect. It makes finding some stuff in quests better due to the depth of the 3D effect. Monster Hunter 4U also has a decent boost in textures when played on the new 3DS. the C-stick and extra shoulder buttons give you more gameplay options when playing on Monster Hunter 4U. The loads times are also improved.
3D effect adds much needed depth to viewing
C-stick is much needed camera controls
Texture boost is decent enough to warrant playing on a New 3DS
5) Tomodachi Life: No real benefits outside of boosted load and saving times on New 3DS.
6) Nintendogs: makes good use of the 3D effect to point of astonishment. One of the best uses for 3D effect in any game.
It also features better loading times and saving times.
Tomorrow I pick up Code Name STEAM which greatly benefits from the New 3DS hardware including Amiibo features.
