Here I am, folks!

Ok, so I knew something was not right about me. In school I was a total loner and didn't have any friends. I've come a long way since then... I can make friends and interact with people. I just come across as a bit weird, but in an acceptable way.

A friend of mine from work has an autistic brother. This friend kept saying how much I reminded him of his autistic brother, so I did some research online about autism and I eventually found out about AS. I was surprised how much I fit into the profile. I seem to have a mild case of AS (if it is possible to have a "mild case").

Hi, from Ghosthunter. I saw your body
building doesn't = girls post. I hope
you enjoy your stay here on WrongPlanet.
You will find that some people approach
on first encounter, and others will search
their feelings and then approach.

Hmmm?

What are your hobbies and interest
other than body building?

Often autism(I am HFA, not AS)
comes in many flavors or spectrums.

What is it that you do that would
help in knowing about your spectrum
status?

To simplify this......What traits do you
exhibit?

What kind of work that you do outside
bodybuilding?

Hmmmmm?
Those are the only questions that come
to mind? HMMMM?

Sincerely,
Ghosthunter

Welcome to WrongPlanet lowfreq50. Many of us were/are loners in school with very few to no friends at all. It's good to have a place like this forum where all of us loners can be together  Once again, welcome.

Welcome!

Yes. There is even a spectrum WITHIN a spectrum. Some ASers are higher-functioning than others. Similar to Autistic Disorder.

I don't know much about the whole spectrum thing. I'm very socially incompetent. If I can keep my cool, i can converse normally. But learning how to do this was trial-and-error. I actually am a department manager at a grocery store and have 7 people working under my supervision...only a few years ago this would have been impossible. I tend to be most effective in a professional/structured environment. And, I absolutely HATE breaking routine....I have to know what I'm going to do each day.

I'm also clumsy. I tend to trip over stuff. And I break a lot of stuff at work... keep me away from glass jars!

Sometimes I "zone out" and just stare at something. Like, the ridges on the edge of a coin, or the reflection of lights on a tile floor. Sometimes I get caught doing that at work...the friend I mentioned says his autistic brother does that.

Outside of bodybuilding... I'm very busy with college (business major) and I work full-time. My biggest hobbies are cooking and music (playing bass guitar and song-writing).

That's all I can think of at the moment!

Here is a basic rundown:
LFA
(lower form autism, or vocal and expressive inability)
Autism
(general term)
HFA
(Higher form autism, or ok vocal, higher tranlation of
things they do)

=these are the ones that are caught by say, age 3,
and show obvious neurological thinking issues, and
involve usually a special school, NVLD(non-verbal learning
disability) and a early I.E.P(Individual Education Plan)
by age 5.

Aspergers folk, based on readings don't have this
prior issue, but can be said(based on readings)
articulate and "little Professor" and no SP:ED and
NVLD by 5. read LFA-HFA setup. They share
similar traits in a spectrum of variable that are
not consistent.

This is just a rough guide line!

Yes, falls into the Autism Spectrum. Hmmm?
In what way are you socially incompentent?

Facts wrote:

Hmmm? Coping skills! too vague?

Why?

Autism Spectrum, Yes!

Autism Spectrum, but not a specific one!

AUTISM(LFA-HFA) RED FLAG, thought suggested
to be in Aspergers as well.

Personal facts:

I'm very busy with college (business major)
I work full-time.
cooking and music hobbies
(playing bass guitar and song-writing)

Slow down turbo! You trying to make me write a book here?

Yes, falls into the Autism Spectrum. Hmmm?

I will screw up common phrases sometimes... say the wrong words and confuse people. I'll get nervous around people and want to "stick my head in the sand."

I would observe people interacting, and mimick them when I was in a similar situation.

Why what?

Sorry about overwhelming you. That is one
of the differences between AS and HFA.

Let's take this one slow....
you said a few year earlier you wouldn't
be seeing yourself being a manager level
person?

Why?

Sincerely,
Ghosthunter

P.S...Otherwise from what you told me,
A-Ok! in the Autism Spectrum dept.

Hmmm? was my brief description
of the spectrum helpful?

Just because I was too "nervous" and didn't command respect. If people don't have respect for you they will be not take you seriously.

You have been helpful...overwhelming, but helpful.

I say thankyou for responding. I hope
you have been finding people warming
to you! I am also glad to be of help.

I noticed you read my "Burning Forest"
statement(or book length), I hope it
gave you insight into how I communicate.

Enjoy WrongPlanet,

Ghosthunter, nothing of what Freq said specifically distinguished him into either category. Most of what he said is common to both autism and asperger's syndrome. Don't confuse social problems with communication deficits.
