I'm not sure if this is obscure in the States, but here in Australia I don't know anyone else who's watched it: Take Shelter, starring Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. LOVED it :)

the goodtimeskid by azazel jacobs.

a film about two men who share the same names, a story about stolen love, stolen identities....shot apparently using film stolen from a higher budget production.

the film ends in basically the same situation where it started, it gets really grainy some time in and there is not much of a struggle i find, but i find it very very charming.

Not really sure it's obscure but the original Wicker Man is incredible, it's definitely under appreciated, it is an absolute classic creepy delve into a disturbing community harboring an ancient secret beneath its quaint facade.

The Ninth Configuration (1980). Written and directed by William Peter Blatty, who wrote the Exorcist and it's an adaptation of his book Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane.

It's about an experimental asylum for soldiers who went insane during combat. It's got a lot of comedy in it. Very strange and quirky movie with a surprise twist ending. Not a horror film at all, but it does have a certain amount of spooky suspense to it. And a very freaky bar fight scene.

One premise the movie doesn't explain, is that in the Exorcist the demon/girl tells an astronaut "you're going to die up there" and the main character in Ninth Configuration is that astronaut who flips out during countdown and gets put into the asylum.

Repo! The Genetic Rock Opera is the most obscure good movie I can think of right now. I doubt anyone would call Wagons East or Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken or Drop Dead Gorgeous obscure, would they? Seems like not so many people have ever heard of them though.

I have a massive collection of films on VHS, DVD and in downloaded format, a large proportion of which could be described as 'obscure'.

I love the 'so bad that it's good' category, so how about Queen Of Outer Space (1958):

Very different indeed is a film I saw a couple of times in the early 1980s, but which I thought was 'lost', until I located it earlier today on YouTube. Well worth checking out....

Dead Leaves probably ranks pretty high on the obscurity meter.
I enjoyed it.

I don't know if Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain is still considered obscure. It was when people showed it to me; that was in the days of the Japanese subtitles and censorship.

I wish I could just add on to my previous post, because I thought of another one. It's more old than obscure, but it's age means few have watched it now-a-days:
