I used to see his seminars/speeches a LOT on PBS (KCTS) when they were having beg-a-thons. "Order now and you'll get Dr. Wayne's book, and DVD...and help support our station!" He was a good motivational speaker and I give condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Another significant loss from the ranks of those who worked to increase human understanding and tolerance of other humans.

Seems to me that he invented the whole 'self-help' movement.
I've seen people weeping over him on FB.
I was never all that impressed by him.

ok, is it the "self-help" movement you don't care for also, or just the man? and what about him don't you like?

I may well be overly critical, but it seems to me that Dr. Dyer revealed truths that weren't all that hidden. I know people were helped, and that is a good thing. But was he a great intellect?

being a great intellect per se, is not the be-all and end-all. he was a great spiritual teacher. he reminded us of the importance of being IN this world, but NOT OF it.

His outstanding quality was not intellect (though he had that) but wisdom and vision, qualities which can't be learned by intellectual training and achievement (though they are not mutually exclusive). Intellect tends to be a function of the ego; wisdom is a function of the soul.

Having read your responses, I can understand why people were moved by his passing.
