I have been watching these sorts of "survival" shows on and off for the last couple of years. I know the situations are often stage managed by the production team, etc.

The second to last episode (week 7) of Naked and Afraid XL showed the main community of survivors grouping together around excluding one member of their group: Dani Julien.

There is some stuff about it here:

The primary issue for the six who turned on her and made life intolerable for her until she "tapped out" and abandoned the challenge seemed to be that she "did not fit in" and "failed to make an effort to join the group. They also complained that she was not doing enough to share chores, but that seemed like an excuse after they had decided to reject her. One of the things they found unacceptable about her was that she liked to go for walks alone.

Wow.

Not being a group person and needing time alone is enough to get you called an untrustworthy sociopath and kicked out of such a small group? I realize that edits may have hidden other problems from the audience but even so I found this really disturbing to watch.

Particularly when one of the other contestant survivalists who turned on her is "a teacher, mentor, rewilder, survivalist, naturalist, and founder of Holistic Survival School located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He has committed his life to mastering and teaching indigenous living skills in order to help people find their balance, connection, and relationship to the Natural World." Epic fail for him to have participated in such a thing, I would think.

It seemed so cruel and I could not help but wonder how much they would hate me for being different?

Did anyone else see this show?
