Yehaw! My only complaint will be if they don't leave Takahiro Sakurai's voice as Cloud and instead have Steve Burton make a mess of Cloud's voice...Oh well! I'm really, really happy right now!

I swear, if THIS is the result of the damn Smash Ballot after all this time, I'm going to.... to.... break a bunch of things, and then maybe throw some stuff. Alot of stuff. At other stuff. And then I'll just hate the whole damn game industry. Well, more than usual, anyway.

Now, if it's NOT the ballot, but instead just the result of some screwball deal or idea that they had on their own, well... no anger, I guess it's fine, but I'll still need to pull off some sort of Ultimate Facepalm. Not sure just how that'd work. There'd be a shockwave involved.

also i read something about there being another smash related announcement next month...

If they're throwing Final Fantasy characters into Smash Brothers they should use Gilgamesh. He'd fit in as well as anybody, and it'd make sense for the character.

I wonder if Square is planning on bringing FF back to Nintendo.

I was so excited that I just had to play Dissidia last night. I took out Tidus, Warrior of Light, and Firion within minutes, and although Cloud of Darkness gave me a bit of trouble at first, I shifted my strategy and she went down quite easily.

It sounds more like marketing to me.

Like, "Hey, this is just a reminder that we're making a totally updated version of FF7 now!". That it's on a totally different console wont really matter... one way or another, it's marketing of the sort where they barely have to DO anything at all. They just allow the Smash devs to do all the work. And then it makes players think of FF7. And talk about FF7. And so on.

Truly devious. And annoying. My dislike of Square grows ever stronger... is there no limit to it? Probably not.

This might also explain why it is Cloud instead of, say, Cecil from FF4, or Terra from FF6, or maybe even Kefka. Hell, Kefka in particular would cause a fangasm of epic proportions, and he's from a very famous game that was, in fact, on a Nintendo system. Cloud being from a very famous game that was NOT on a Nintendo system. So Cloud makes the least sense here, but he was chosen anyway. Yeah... reeks of pure marketing to me. As such, unless Cloud's moveset, gameplay-wise, is bloody FASCINATING, I aint supporting this one with a purchase, that's for sure.

Oh, dont mind me. I always sound like this.

I dont particularly care that the character is in the game, in that sense. I just dont like the sort of actions a publisher takes that causes this kind of thing to happen, even when it doesnt make logical sense, just so they can sell something ELSE that much easier. I have nothing against the devs that work under Square, I just dont like Square as a PUBLISHER. The actual games I dont really care about.

So yeah, it aint about the games, or even the character, it aint like I have some hate for Cloud or something. Even I played FF7 way back when. Well, most of the way through. So I've no problem with him. But yeah, I just dont like the probable reasoning for this and the practices behind it. Usually I just dont buy the thing in question when that happens. Just BUGS me otherwise.

Me being irked though only means so much (I'm always irked) so dont let it detract from your own enjoyment of the whole thing.

I like your style. And I get it. But on the autism forums, it might cause some misunderstandings.

As for the IP melting pot that is not just Smash Bros, but a lot of Nintendo titles nowadays, and it has been so for quite some time already(probably because they can only squeeze so much out of each IP before they have to combine them), it rubs me the wrong way.

I recently got Mario Kart 8, and I'm so f*****g triggered(I never use that term unironically, until now) by seeing baby Mario and Luigi and their grown up counterparts in the same race.

This is my main gripe with Nintendo.

Don't get me wrong, I still love their games. Smash Bros included.

As much as I didn't care for 7, I still think Cloud is the best fit out of all the characters. He's super recognizable (almost mascot status, next to the chocobos), and that ginormous sword...well...enough said.

Also, I remember a lot of "Ocarina of Time vs. FF7" debates back in the day, now people can finally put that battle to the test.

I'm not very familiar with final fantasy but cloud is an awesome character I'm all for it.

Yay! The DLC for Cloud has been released! Not only that, Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates has also joined SSB4!
