"friendzoned" is by far the dumbest term I have ever heard in my life.

If they do not fancy you you can either move on or be their friend. It is not rocket science. What do you expect? There is no "zone" it is a default position.

Really.

There are some three billion people on the planet of the opposite sex. If you're not actively horny for all three billion of them then does that mean you have "friendzoned" the rest of them?

I dont have "thoughts" about the Queen of England. So should she be insulted that I have "friendzoned her"?

How does that work?

Can someone do a transcript of the lyrics? That would make it easier to discuss with the added benefit of not having to hear their whiny, pouty voices and twangy, unimaginative guitar licks.

I can agree with that without having anyone transcribe the lyrics for me.

I'd still appreciate if someone would, though. Then we could actually discuss the song itself rather than discussing the friendzone concept for the n-zillionth time.

Dating isn't about sex, it's mainly about commitment and companionship (finding the person you're going to marry).

No it means you lover her and want to date but she only sees you as useful as a friend.

My interprietation of the term is there is a period of time which you must act, or she will only ever see you as a friend.

This is presumptious on three levels:

1. That's she spends time considering it.
2. That she saw that way in the first place.
3. That this golden period is going to be anymore effective.
4. That no one has ever dated a friend and it is somehow impossible to escape the zone.

Friend zone translation = unrequited love/obsession with resentment.

Mostly it is the idea of being is love with anyone, rather than anyone specific.

Also my interpretation of the friend zone, is to get in there quick before they realise how one dimensional they are.

The whole concept of the friendzone is insulting. It suggests that the opposite gender has no other value than as a partner. "Time in Vain" suggests that if you don't end up in a romantic relationship, your time has been wasted. Kinda a negative way to look at things.
